Role

Who you are

  • You come from a software development background with over 5 years of experience
  • You have successfully managed both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver multiple concurrent technical projects. Additionally, you possess a strong background in solutions engineering
  • You understand the value of balancing customer centric thinking with technical know-how, and can bridge the gap between business and technical experts
  • You put the customer above technology, while finding ways to leverage technology to improve the customer experience
  • You are personable and you are good at stakeholder management. You are able to represent Wise and our values to external partners in a professional way, explaining technical problems and solutions to non-technical audiences
  • You have experience with RESTful APIs, API Design, Swagger, OpenAPI, OAuth2

  • Passionate about international finance, foreign exchange, and payment systems
  • Skilled in multiple programming languages, tech stacks, and cloud providers
  • Strong communicator in client-facing roles, engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders

What the job involves

  • Solutions Engineers make it happen by working with partners to build integrations to our class-leading international finance products, while improving Wise Platform by increasing the capabilities of our public API
  • The team’s goals are to drive the growth of Wise through partnerships and integrations by creating a world class product set delivered through third parties
  • Provide technical consulting and product guidance to banks and partners integrating Wise, primarily post-sale
  • Support business development by aiding larger partners requiring novel features
  • Assist partners in the implementation phase, defining technical solutions and documenting requirements
  • Participate in feature definition, prioritisation, and long-term strategy planning with the Wise Platform team
  • Ensure partners deliver the best integration within their constraints for an excellent customer experience
  • Collaborate with Implementation Managers, Product Managers, and Engineers, making product and project decisions
  • Work on scaling Wise Platform into new regions, overcoming associated challenges
  • Improve integration experience through documentation, APIs, SDKs, code samples, and reference implementations
  • Collaborate with the technical presales team to support the sales cycle and secure new partnerships
  • Enhance internal processes to handle multiple integrations in parallel
  • Design and develop new features for Wise services and expose them on the public API when needed
  • Troubleshoot, test, and resolve technical issues, supporting the API team with complex problems

Our take

Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.

Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. They've attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.

The challenge for Wise will be maintaining their edge and brand power in a market that's becoming increasingly crowded with new entrants (like Revolut and Monzo) and incumbents (traditional banks) trying to catch up. To do so, the company is ramping up its digital and marketing strategies, as well as pushing for further development of its existing products.
