Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of experience as Data Analyst / Data Scientist
- Ability to develop robust monitoring and alerting systems to detect regressions in model behavior
- Strong proficiency in SQL
- Strong proficiency using Data Warehouses and other large data systems (Spark, Trino, etc.)
- Strong proficiency in developing dashboards (Tableau, SuperSet, Sigma, etc.)
- Experience in statistical analysis
- Experience using Python as a scripting language
- Basic git knowledge
- Basic bash knowledge
- Knowledge in ML concepts is desirable
What the job involves
- As a Senior Data Analyst on the ML team, you will be responsible for extracting insights aggregated from various data sources, developing dashboards to identify trends and patterns that highlight model performance issues, performing analysis to determine the root-cause of ML and product anomalies, and presenting your findings to stakeholders to guide business and technical decisions
- You will work closely with ML and Data Engineering, and other engineering teams to direct and validate technical and business decisions using data
- Your work will directly impact the success of our ML initiatives, ensuring they are grounded in solid data analysis and capable of delivering tangible business value
- The First 30 Days:
- Understand the teams, data sources, and existing tools used to work with data. Work with ML and Data Engineering to improve monitoring and alerting
- The First 60 Days:
- Work to help develop the metrics and data necessary to quantify changes made to the systems from cross-functional projects
- 90 Days & Beyond:
- Understand the data that ML and related projects are most involved in
- Gain competency in developing monitoring and analysis to deliver value from that data
- Collaborate well with the team and the rest of the Flock
- Analyze known anomalies to understand the reason for the specific behavior

Public vehicle surveillance provides valuable insights to emergency services for the prevention of crime, but bringing information together to create leads is difficult. There's no standardised system for inter-city vehicle surveillance, and this makes it difficult for communities and law enforcement services to work together.
Flock Safety provides surveillance equipment that aims to improve the abilities of law enforcement and homeowner associations to communicate data with each other. The company focuses on vehicle surveillance, innovating on existing technology by using machine learning to categorise vehicles by color, license plate, state, and other data points.
Whilst automated surveillance equipment is used daily within federal police forces, Flock Safety builds technology systems that provide a means for smaller law enforcement agencies to quantify and share surveillance data easily. This data can then be automatically processed to help develop leads, a time-consuming process that would usually have to be completed manually.
