Our take

Lendlease is a globally integrated real estate group - its integrated business model spans Investments, Development, and Construction, delivering products that shape cities and create connected communities and workplaces. The company is behind some of the world’s most recognised real estate, including Sydney’s Opera House, London’s Tate Britain, and New York City’s National September 11 Memorial and Museum.

With current projects that include the $1 billion Queen Victoria Market project in Melbourne and the £4 billion Euston redevelopment in London (which will include a significant space for life sciences), the company has evolved to include unique, innovative methods of bringing sustainable projects into the world.

Lendlease is focused on cutting back on its waste as it aims for an “absolute zero” carbon footprint by 2040, a goal which saw Lendlease Europe reduce its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by more than 50% between December 2021-December 2022. Additionally, it has been pilot-testing three strains of fungi to break down roof shingles, with plans to test the process on drywall, in a process it hopes will be scalable across the entire company.
