Who you are

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in performance marketing, with a focus on search engine marketing (SEM)
  • Proven track record of managing successful search campaigns and achieving measurable results, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in setting up and optimizing paid search campaigns on platforms such as Google Ads and Apple Search Ads
  • In-depth understanding of keyword research, bid management, budget management, account structure and A/B testing strategies
  • Proficiency in setting up and optimizing conversion tracking to measure the success of advertising campaigns
  • Understanding of mobile-specific strategies, including mobile bid adjustments, responsive search ads, and mobile-specific ad extensions
  • Familiarity with the Google Shopping Platform with experience in feed management and campaign optimization a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative approach to work well with cross-functional teams and external partners

What the job involves

  • In your role as a Search Manager (m/f/d) you will manage our Google Search and Apple Search Ads campaigns globally
  • We are looking for a candidate with previous experience managing search campaigns across multiple platforms preferably with e-commerce experience who would be comfortable working in a fast paced startup environment
  • Take ownership of the paid search, and be responsible for meeting performance targets and driving strategic growth. Lead the development and execution of roadmaps in collaboration with senior management, aligning with overall business objectives
  • Paid Search Performance Management: Oversee the performance management of paid search campaigns, including budget forecasting, management, and optimisation. Ensure that campaigns are effectively managed to meet or exceed KPIs
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and guidance on Search related tracking and reporting as well as account setup
  • Testing and Innovation: Drive experimentation and innovation within the channel by managing a testing backlog, and scoping new opportunities. Stay up to date with industry trends to ensure the channel remains competitive
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze campaign performance and pull together complex data sets to surface insights. Develop actionable plans to improve or grow the channel, using data to guide decisions

Our take

Online grocery delivery services in Europe range from early supermarket-specific services to the more recent success of mobile food-ordering applications. However despite thier proliferation grocery delivery services still face long waiting lists and logistic bottlenecks, with faster solutions coming with a compromise on the range and quality of products.

Flink provides an online website and mobile application for the delivery of fresh fruit, vegetables, and other organic-quality groceries to European homes. The company provides its services to 100 different European cities across Germany, the Netherlands and France, and claims that its grocery deliveries are provided at supermarket prices within 10 minutes of ordering.

Flink is one of the few remaining independent grocery delivery startups in Europe, with most of the others either having been acquired or shut down. German rival Gorillas for instance ate through its initial investments and was taken over in 2022. Flink has been playing a more conservative strategy, aiming for more steady growth, but had to receive a fresh investment round of 100 million euros in 2024 to help it outlast competitors. Rumors of a potential merger with competitor companies indicate the lengths that Flink is going to maintain its dominance in a market that, at present, is suffering from lower demand and higher costs.
