Company mission

To help everyone, anywhere create their feeling of home.

Role

Who you are

  • The ideal candidate is a pragmatic design leader—able to navigate ambiguity to conceive a vision in the abstract, before transfering that vision into tangible design artifacts (mockups, wireframes, prototypes)
  • 8+ years of product design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or equivalent practical experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of design processes; knowledge of what is possible and what will be hard to achieve and/or implement in a digital environment
  • Expertise in producing design deliverables, including detailed user flows/task flows, user journeys, page flows, taxonomies/folksonomies, wireframes, annotations, and prototypes that represent interaction recommendations, etc.
  • Strong skills in modern design tools like Figma
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS—enough to understand feasibility of execution
  • The ability to think at systems level and design solutions that are scalable and extensible beyond the immediate use
  • Experience presenting and defending designs to senior and executive leadership
  • Portfolio and/or case studies of shipped work that demonstrates an ability to effectively design for highly technical experiences, unfailing advocacy for the user, data-driven approach, and strategic thinking

Desirable

  • Experience designing for e-commerce
  • Experience designing for ad-tech (supply, demand, and/or publisher-based)
  • Strong user research skills are highly valued

What the job involves

  • This is an onsite role. Employees are expected to be in our Boston or Toronto office Tuesdays-Thursday, and work remotely Mondays and Fridays
  • As the senior product design lead for Supplier Advertising, you will drive the design strategy and execution for the most complicated pieces of our emerging ad business
  • This is a highly visible role with significant impact
  • Act as both strategist and product practitioner
  • Craft thoughtful and effective user experiences that balance business goals with customer needs
  • Collaborate directly with product managers, engineers, designers, business stakeholders, and senior leadership through all stages of the product-development lifecycle
  • Triangulate data from multiple inputs to inform design and product strategy
  • Represent the voice of our customers (suppliers and shoppers) in product definition and strategy meetings
  • Contribute to the development of team members through design review, modeled behavior, dedicated mentorship, or less formal coaching and advice

Our take

Wayfair emerged in the early era of eCommerce with a mission to revolutionize online shopping, offering customers a convenient platform to purchase goods. Today, it stands as one of the foremost global players in the online furniture delivery industry, boasting an impressive inventory of over 33 million products.

Renowned for its extensive product range and comprehensive service offerings, Wayfair distinguishes itself by providing an end-to-end customer experience, from browsing to doorstep delivery. Despite its prominence, the company faces profitability challenges attributed largely to expansion expenses. Nonetheless, its solid presence in the competitive online homeware sector solidifies its position as a key contender.

With ambitious global expansion plans, Wayfair remains committed to maintaining its leadership in the industry. As it aspires to become the ultimate destination for all home needs, its more recent ventures into physical retail represent significant strides toward this overarching goal.
