Role
Who you are
- At least one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- CI/CD, for example ArgoCD, Gitlab Pipelines, CircleCI
- Containerisation and deployment with Docker and Kubernetes
- Networking fundamentals, IP networking, TCP, HTTP
- Cloud security fundamentals: least privilege access, security groups, isolated networks
- Technologies our teams use that are nice to know, but not essential: Task orchestration, ELT, Serverless, Event Streaming
- Python, NodeJS or other scripting languages
- We like people who combine expertise and ambition with optimism, who are interested in changing the world for the better and have the drive and intelligence to make it happen
- Think scientifically, even if you’re not a scientist - you test assumptions, seek evidence and are always looking for opportunities to improve the way we do things

What the job involves
- This role is situated within our Applied AI consultancy, which serves clients across UK Defence, Government, Life Sciences, Energy, Banking and Retail
- As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will work in the business area where the need is greatest and this may change from time-to-time, depending on our external client requirements
- We are a rapidly growing business and require all our employees to be versatile across sectors and confident to be client-facing within those
- Because of the potential to work with our UK Defence clients, you will need to be eligible for Security Clearance having been a resident in the UK for the last 5 years and not spent a significant period (6 months or more) outside of the UK continuously in that time
- A Cloud Engineer at Faculty help our customers by building robust, secure and scalable Cloud Infrastructure to support their data and machine learning workflows
- You’ll work as part of a cross-functional technical team to build solutions to some of the hardest problems in applied artificial intelligence
- You’ll work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders going from idea to implementation as well as contributing to internal Cloud Engineering best practices, standards and code repos; enabling Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists to take ownership of their cloud deployments
- You’ll proactively contribute to Faculty’s growth by working with our customers to recommend how they can leverage Cloud infrastructure to solve their problems
- Be involved with the project life cycle from idea generation to shipping
- Actively look out for the best open source technologies to be used in the development of Faculty's infrastructure
- Create and maintain reusable libraries that are used company-wide
