Who you are
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or other technical fields from a top-tier school
- 1-4 years of data analysis experience
- Highly analytical with advanced proficiency in SQL and familiarity with additional programming languages in Ruby, Python, R, etc
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings logically
- MBA and graduate school graduates welcome
What the job involves
- As a risk and product analyst at Avant you have the opportunity to implement new technologies and data platforms, analyze data to influence decisions on products, and directly impact the company's profitability. Avant’s data analyst program aims to develop entrepreneurial, self-driven candidates who thrive in a dynamic environment and are excited about contributing to building a company from the ground up. Regular interactions with senior leadership are a key component of this program
- Business Intelligence: Support the organization’s data needs through a deep understanding of the data model, and how it maps to business concepts
- Oversee Implementation Lifecycle:
- Identify business opportunity through data analysis
- Translate the opportunity into a business case and requirements
- Work with technical teams to implement new technologies and data platforms
- Measure effectiveness through further data analysis
- Communication: Simplify complex scenarios into easy to digest visuals. Tailor messaging to your audience, both business and technical
- Leadership and Operation: Contribute to high-priority, high-value projects, and, after proven performance, manage individuals and teams or specialize further in areas of interest
- Strategic Impact: Contribute to the company’s profitability through data-driven insights and decisions
Our take
Many Americans with below average credit scores are caught in a bind: they're unable to improve their score, and simultaneously cannot access traditional loans. Avant's alternative is to offer credit options that are based on machine learning and a large database to manage their risk. The business has issued over $8 billion in loans to date.
The company offers a quick credit decision and speedy access to any allotted funds. It paired up with Zero Financial in 2021, expanding its business to the digital banking space. It plans to offer a whole suite of products in a single platform, such as loans, credit cards, and deposits.
Many fintechs are looking at ways to remove the traditional barriers that people with low credit scores face when trying to take out loans. Avant is not alone in this space, but by expanding its offering to banking products as well, it has increased its customer appeal and its reach. The company has recently received a large investment from Ares Management Alternative Credit Funds, enabling it to expand its credit portfolio and further develop its platform.
