Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in full-stack development, with deep expertise testing, specifically in Kotlin and/or Swift
- Extensive experience with testing practices in all levels including unit, integration, UI testing, etc
- Proven ability to design and execute on large scale shared libraries along with the ability to investigate external libraries and implement within an existing large code base
- Share your expertise by mentoring and training engineers on reliability tactics. This will include creating comprehensive documentation, conducting one-on-one sessions, and leading group training workshops
What the job involves
- At GameChanger, we are currently revamping our approach to automated testing and are actively improving our level of Quality Engineering to pave the road for developers to validate their code more effectively
- Software Engineers with this role will be pairing directly with developers on product teams to discover where there are testing gaps and how to facilitate the existing testing workflows by building a standardized framework and shared libraries
- This responsibility stretches the entire testing workflow, from unit tests, integration tests, UI tests, etc
- In this particular role, you will be focused towards improving testing strategies for our frontend products developed in Swift and Kotlin
- You will help identify weaknesses in the existing code base and help design ways to test critical workflows more effectively
- You will also use your expertise to help mentor other developers on best practices in the testing space and lift up quality across the entire organization
- Pioneer new testing strategies and improve existing ones for developers to write in their areas of ownership
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of testing frameworks, shared libraries and strategies across the company
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders, product managers, and QA team members to identify testing needs
- Improving the stability and reliability of our testing suites and owning automation and test tooling to increase overall confidence in releases
- Identify weaknesses in product design that cause complexity of testing and lead design of refactoring the code with quality in mind
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of learning and excellence around quality and testing
- Engineer robust software solutions with a strong emphasis on high-quality development standards, ensuring reliability, and maintainability
Our take
The competitive nature of sports has always been driven by scorekeeping, and nowadays results are often consumed online. However, for smaller teams it can be difficult to provide this information digitally, as they do not have dedicated web development staff.
GameChanger provides a scorekeeping and statistics platform for sports teams to engage with their fans, that allows viewers to track the progress of a game in real-time similar to with professional sports. The company also embeds a live-streaming service into the platform to facilitate remote viewing, helping to increase audience engagement.
Whilst some sports teams already stream events on platforms such as Twitch and Youtube, most do not have the technical resources to achieve this. GameChanger has recognized this gap in the market, providing a simple yet unified platform for sports scoreboards and streaming, providing a fair opportunity for any team to maximize their community engagement.
