Company mission

To make application development easier, better, and accessible to more people by building open source tools and commercial services.

Role

Who you are

  • You have 5–7+ years of B2B product marketing experience for products in infrastructure, developer tools, API platforms, or AI, with additional related experience beyond that
  • You're a technical product marketer who knows how to speak to a developer audience. You've marketed complex Enterprise SaaS platforms—like DevOps tools, cloud services, or AI—and can translate technical value into clear, compelling messaging
  • Builder’s mindset. You have experience working in a high-growth startup environment, and you're energized by a fast-paced setting and love creating structure, messaging, and programs from scratch. You’re hands-on, curious, and accountable for outcomes
  • Technical aptitude. You're hands-on and eager to understand how our product works firsthand - so you can speak credibly and clearly to our prospects and customers. You’ve enabled Sales teams to win complex deals. You understand what platform and engineering leaders care about, and how to communicate value to them
  • Content machine. You know how to produce content that performs - long-form, short-form, strategic, and technical - and you care deeply about quality and clarity
  • Strong collaborator. You’re at home working across Product, Sales, and Demand Gen, and you know how to align efforts to move the business forward
  • Data-informed. You’re results-oriented, curious about what’s working, and always looking for ways to optimize based on real performance signals
  • Strong executive presence. You can communicate with and write for C-level stakeholders

Desirable

  • Familiarity with the GraphQL ecosystem
  • Experience designing campaigns that reach both the end-user (e.g. IC software engineer) and economic buyer (e.g. VP Engineering)

What the job involves

  • Are you a full-stack Product Marketer who thrives at the intersection of technical depth, strategic storytelling, and high-impact GTM execution?
  • Are you passionate about helping engineering teams adopt next-gen API infrastructure - and excited to shape how the category-leading GraphQL platform shows up in the market? If that sounds like you, let’s talk
  • Apollo is the industry standard for GraphQL, powering mission-critical APIs at organizations like Netflix, Airbnb, and The New York Times
  • With over 750M downloads and adoption across 30,000+ engineering teams, we’re building the leading API orchestration platform for the era of composable architecture
  • And we’re looking for a Principal Product Marketing Manager to help us tell the story of our platform and drive the creation of high performing campaigns promoting it
  • This is a rare opportunity to lead platform marketing at a high-growth company that’s defining a new category and reshaping how modern applications are built
  • You’ll craft differentiated narratives that resonate with technical buyers, own the content strategy that fuels education and pipeline, and partner closely with Sales and Product to launch high-impact plays
  • Being part of a small but mighty PMM team, you’ll have high visibility, full ownership, and the support of a world-class Product and GTM org
  • If you're excited to tell the platform story that shapes how the next generation of developers build with APIs, we’d love to meet you
  • Build Apollo’s Platform narrative. Shape the story around our core platform capabilities - performance, observability, security, scale - and position Apollo as the trusted platform for running critical workloads
  • Create content that drives engagement and pipeline. From launch assets to evergreen content, you’ll create high-quality, technical, and strategic materials that support demand generation, drive product activation, and help the Sales team close deals
  • Drive Enterprise GTM alignment. Partner closely with Sales to design and enable full-funnel plays, map content to the buyer journey, and help field teams articulate Apollo’s value to engineering and platform leaders
  • Deepen our technical storytelling muscle. Write and shape content that resonates with developers and platform engineers - from explainer blogs to deep dives on orchestration patterns
  • Partner cross-functionally. Collaborate with Product to shape feature positioning, influence the roadmap with customer and market insights, and build integrated campaigns with Demand Gen that convert technical leads into pipeline
  • Bring insights to the table. Use data, research, and direct field conversations to understand what’s landing with our audience and continuously refine our messaging and content roadmap

Our take

Apollo provides technology to help startups and enterprises build apps using GraphQL. It provides the data graph layer connecting modern apps to the cloud, and is the industry standard implementation for GraphQL.

Apollo claims that GraphQL wins out over competing REST APIs by offering a slicker, more bug-resistant service that does not require complex data fetching code. Certainly, the benefits of GraphQL become apparent with more complex web services or mobile applications, and this is the direction in which companies are increasingly headed as business shifts online. As such, it is unsurprising that Apollo count PayPal, New York Times, and Walmart among a roster of high-profile clients.

In recent years, Apollo has shifted online and its products are in high demand. Due to this, the company has both the resources and the strong industry reputation to continue offering it at the highest grade. Its 2022 launch of "Supergraph", a software layer designed to unify disparate data feeds and create one source for front-end developers, is a good demonstration of the company's continued dedication to innovating.
