Company mission

To build a new kind of bank that makes money work for everyone.

Role

Who you are

  • You’re experienced in product marketing for B2C products, working with a complex ecosystem of products
  • A strong understanding of campaign metrics, and channel mix from CRM to Paid marketing, that shape typical GTM tactics
  • A track record of working closely with product leadership and helping to shape go-to-market strategy from the early stages of product building
  • An eye for great positioning, and the ability to clearly and constructively critique a creative approach
  • You’re happy with a combination of getting your hands dirty and taking ownership of your area
  • Excited to work at a fast-paced, award-winning, quickly growing company

What the job involves

  • Caregiver Leave - 12 month fixed term contract
  • We’re looking for a Senior Product Marketing Manager to join our team and help us build one of the best, most innovative banks in the world.
  • This entails defining our product propositions and go-to-market strategies for our core products and services, primarily including user growth, product security and financial crime
  • You’ll act as the voice of both the market to help us meet our users needs and achieve our business objective through targeted, measurable, and exciting campaigns across a range of channels
  • You’ll be a key partner to Marketing and Product as we listen to our customer needs, understand the competitive landscape and build things that help people manage their financial lives
  • GTM Strategy: Develop top launches for Monzo customers and align to business objectives to reach new customers. Lead the development and execution of innovative go-to-market plans for new features and offerings that drive adoption of Monzo as a bank
  • Champion for the customer: Partner with Product & Design on product discovery work for product solutions. Champion our audiences, both existing and potential - owning our view of the total addressable market for your products with a deep understanding of their needs
  • Positioning & Messaging Mastery: Deeply understand our market and customers to compose powerful, differentiated positioning. Craft (and coach others to craft) impactful messaging frameworks that resonate with our target audiences
  • Player/Coach Work. Act as both a hands-on contributor, driving several marketing initiatives solo, as well as a leader capable of coaching, guiding and mentoring other strong product marketers
  • Market Insights: Develop a point of view on market trends, customer behaviours, and competitive changes that impact our Products. Drive in-depth market research alongside our User Research team
  • Growth/Lifecycle Campaigns: Work in partnership with Product and CRM to drive user growth and engagement. Develop a deep understanding of customer journeys that lead to targeted campaigns and greater customer loyalty
  • Cross-functional Partnership: Be comfortable and work well with a broad range of people at every level of the business from senior leadership to individual contributors

Our take

Monzo is a challenger bank that fully operates online and offers a full range of current, savings, business accounts, and more. The speed of the challenger banks to provide a great experience has been impressive, and the number of competitors appearing has proven the consumer desire for innovation.

Monzo remains one of the popular online banks, with more than 6 million customer active users. The company faces competition as more traditional banks, such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, have launched their own digital banks. However, the new technologies that the company is built on enable it to expand quickly (with fewer issues) than the incumbent players' offerings.

With an increasing amount of people switching banks, the company's ever-expanding suite of banking and financial services (such as its buy-now-pay-later offering) has resulted in Monzo receiving the second-highest net switching gains among digital challenger banks (just behind Starling).

After setting U.S. expansion plans aside in 2020, the company launched in the U.S. market in early 2022, partnering with Sutton Bank to provide its U.S. accounts. After several years focused on narrowing its losses, Monzo hit profitability in the first two months of 2023. In the same year, 2 million new customers joined, tallying its customer base at 9 million in 2024.
