Who you are
- We’re looking for exceptional leaders with a passion for technology and the ability to work with a diverse team
- 3-5 years of product management in digital products, games, or mobile apps
- Familiarity with digital user profiles is beneficial but not required
- Familiarity with data Privacy / Compliance / Regulatory a plus
- Start-up, social networking, or consulting experience is a strong plus
- Strong product management expertise and experience building great products that meet customer needs
- Sound product judgment, ability to formulate product strategy and present clear measurable objectives that will lead to achieving our business goals
- Ability to build wireframes, product specifications, and white papers
- Experience using lean, data-driven principles to improve a product. Some experience with data analytics and SQL is preferred
- Ability to balance player, game, and business interests while considering technical costs and tradeoffs
- Strong project management skills and ability to present work to executive staff
- Outstanding written/oral, organizational, analytical abilities, and attention to detail
- A driven self-starter and a great teammate
- BA/BS degree, MBA, or Computer Science preferred
What the job involves
- As a Senior Product Manager within Mobile Game Technology, you will be responsible for owning the Product function to craft, develop, and maintain Zynga’s platform portfolio, accelerating game development and streamlining live operations
- This role is focused on building game components including the Identity and Accounts product portfolio
- As you grow in the role, you will likely own additional products and services
- Responsible for the full product lifecycle, including product vision, competitive analysis, requirements gathering, feature prioritization, spec writing, roadmap management, and partner alignment
- Drive the product strategy, product specifications, and collaborate with game teams to achieve product success
- Define how to measure product success and effectiveness. Apply qualitative consumer insights and quantitative data to advise product decisions and build business rationale
- Build product vision by understanding customer needs, partnering closely with Product and Engineering leaders on game teams to create feedback loops for continued improvements and identify patterns of need across Zynga
- Evangelize our offerings by articulating the value of our products and how they help solve the problems faced by our customers while aligning roadmaps to facilitate go-to-market execution
- Identify & deconstruct competitive offerings in the market, formulate insights and use them to drive future roadmap direction
- Responsible for a large Mobile Game Technology product area and/or multiple products
- Work closely with other technical leaders in Mobile Game Technology and across fields to promote effective strategies and foster a positive team culture
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
