Role

Who you are

  • Requires previous experience of implementing Kubernetes within an organization, and to be proficient in the areas of product selection, hands-on tooling, with the ability to evangelize these across the organization
  • Requires the holder to be a development focused engineer to help automate the server and virtualization infrastructure, by maintaining and creating new automation tools to continue to drive transformation of our environments and services
  • 4+ years' experience with building and running on-premises Kubernetes, ideally OpenShift. CKA, CKAD, or CKS certifications a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, plan and control several concurrent initiatives with conflicting needs
  • Track record of successful delivery in a large enterprise environment
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of public cloud patterns (AWS, Azure); container tools (Kubernetes, Docker); pipeline tools (Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform); ancillary (Nexus IQ, SonarQube, Hashicorp Vault); logging and monitoring (Loki, ELK, Prometheus, Kibana); scripting (Python, Bash, Go)

What the job involves

  • The Builders Enablement Program is looking for experienced Principle Engineers to build out and expand our on-premises OpenShift based Kubernetes functions globally; automating the server and virtualization infrastructure components supporting the customer's containerized workloads through architecture, development, testing, support, and production runtime
  • Working within a global team, the role will be responsible for implementing IT initiatives that supports and continually improves our operational efficiency, driving automation, improving cost effectiveness and creating operational excellence
  • Will include championing technology innovation and change, working with innovation stakeholders across the business, creating a culture of collaboration
  • Is primarily focused on services, ensuring we meet their SLAs and efficiency targets, providing support for solutions based upon principles of high-availability, agility, scale and efficiency
  • It will include liaison and building close relationships with other technical areas such as development, testing, application support and architecture teams
  • Requires working with:
  • Agile frameworks
  • Infrastructure As Code
  • Infrastructure and Network technologies
  • Orchestration of build and deployment of containerized environments
  • Building and maintaining virtualization automation, monitoring, and reporting tools
  • Troubleshooting, resolving, and assisting in complex environmental issues through code
  • Participation in automation initiatives driving change and efficiencies
  • Mentoring and sharing knowledge with other members of the team through retros, planning meetings and daily standups
  • Vendors / 3rd party relationships
