- You will be required to engage in physical activities within reasonable accommodation. Some tasks may require - lifting and moving material up to 50~ pounds each, bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head, frequent walking in the facilities, ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and hallways
What the job involves
- Work with an integrated team and partner with a multidisciplinary team of Engineers and Research scientists working to develop the next generation AI-first technologies that will enable safe self-driving at scale
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and systems
- Work with with teams to create policies, standards and enforce them across all sites
- Create site disaster recovery plans and ensure policies, procedures are followed
- Procure and manage the lifecycle of a large fleet of laptops, high powered workstations and other computing equipment
- Track and manage site-related expenses and assets
- Oversee ticket workflow through various channels including JIRA, email, instant messaging, and verbal requests
- Configure and manage a large throughput, high performance on-premise network
- Work in collaboration with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure that systems and networks are secure and performant
- Create a productive working environment for staff while maintaining compliance with company security standards and industry best practices

However, whilst the self-driving industry has made significant advancements there is much more that can be done. There are challenges in this space surrounding scale and developing commercially viable self-driving technology.
Waabi hopes to tackle these challenges and be the leader in self-driving technology with their "AI first approach". The company said that combined with a closed-loop simulator, this approach will allow both common driving scenarios and safety-critical edge cases to be tested at scale - solving one of the key issues in the industry.
Waabi successfully raised one of the largest Series A rounds ever raised in Canada, and has gone on to raise fresh Volvo and Uber-led funding in early 2024. While the company's focus is currently on autonomous long-haul trucking (launching its first generation of trucks in November 2022), the company is well set to lead the next generation of self-driving technology.
