Who you are
- You have 5+ years of professional experience working with some combination of Node/TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Postgres (or similar relational database)
- You have 1+ years of experience leading a team of engineers
- You're not just interested in what you're building, but also why you're building it. You want to see the bigger picture of how the software you're building is benefitting our users
- You understand observability and enjoy digging into the details to solve performance and user experience issues
- You're both a student and a teacher, continually seeking to grow as an engineer and help those around you grow as well

What the job involves
- We’re growing our team, and are looking for an Engineering Team Leader who can help us take our platform to the next level leading our Financial Insights team
- This team supports core user experiences and systems that help users to understand their finances and adapt their behavior to maximize their financial health.The team works extremely closely with our Product and Design teams to deliver these experiences to our users
- Anchor a team that surfaces meaningful and easy-to-understand financial insights to millions of users
- Work with Product and Design to optimize user delight and business impact through pragmatic and thoughtful engineering and planning
- Support engineers in their growth, providing feedback and guidance on architecture, execution, and cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Own the delivery of your team’s work – your team is responsible to deliver, but as a leader, ownership of that delivery is yours
Our take
Managing finances has become increasingly difficult in the last couple of decades, despite access to online banking and other financial apps. The mass of subscriptions, standing orders and utility bills the average American is subject to ultimately makes it difficult to assess and manage their finances within one place.
Rocket Money (formerly Truebill) provides a mobile application that includes a variety of tools that aim to simplify financial management. Tools include an automatic subscription tracker which aims to increase transparency and simplicity for canceling unwanted subscriptions, in addition to monthly spending analytics and budgeting plans.
Whilst there seems to be an app for just about every form of financial management, Rocket Money has taken much-needed action by unifying everything into a single app. Whilst the company initially focused on financial management tools, it's now branched out to more direct financial tools such as utility bill comparison services, autopilot saving and paycheque advance loans.
