Who you are

  • The ideal candidate has a track record of strong negotiation, relationship building, and analytical skills
  • We expect the candidate to be able to ideate, recommend and execute a vision, and to build programs and features from the ground up

  • Bringing a passion for books is a big plus, but if you don’t have one we are confident it will come!
  • Bachelor's degree, or experience in a professional field or military
  • Experience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in account management, project/program management, or buying
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions
  • Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
  • Experience with business analysis and P&L management
  • Experience with Excel
  • Fluent in French, oral and written

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL

What the job involves

  • Amazon Kindle team is looking for a talented individual to help us continue to revolutionize how customers buy and read books
  • We offer a creative, entrepreneurial and global work environment where you’ll contribute to the expansion of some of Amazon’s most iconic offerings such as Kindle ebooks, Kinde Unlimited and Prime Reading
  • You will establish, drive and strengthen relationships with top French and International publishers
  • Be an expert relationship manager and communicator, who works closely with publishers up to C-level to ensure Amazon customers can find any book in our store, download it quickly at a great price and have an excellent experience reading it
  • Be responsible for specific publisher level metrics around selection, engagement with our subscription programs and profitability
  • Play an active role in the success of our two most strategic subscription programs: Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading
  • Become an ebooks expert who understands industry trends, the competitive environment and readers’ needs - and innovates in response by developing new services and products
  • Own and drive projects, areas of expertise and business metrics at local, European or worldwide level, working closely with leaders across the entire Books organization

The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
