Who you are

  • Previous experience as a system administrator, software developer, or within a technical operations support role
  • High level of proficiency in Python, SQL, and Linux shell scripting
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Vigorous desire to learn about ultra-low latency financial platforms
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and Atlassian tools
  • Ability to read and evaluate C++ (desired)
  • Network Administration experience (desired)
  • AWS Cloud (desired)

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Previous experience supporting ultra-low latency financial platforms

What the job involves

  • To be a Site Reliability Engineer at Cboe is to be the key cog that connects and synchronizes all operations in our organization
  • They are responsible for monitoring and tuning of the exchange systems for consistently high performance and low latency
  • They also provide operational support for all trading platforms globally, with a focus on high availability and low tolerance for bad health
  • And they work intimately with Software Engineering, Infrastructure and the Trade Desk to understand, plan and deploy complex schedules of work in a risk minimal fashion
  • Providing technical support to sustain resiliency and high availability of financial exchanges
  • Analyzing performance metrics and optimizing the latency of the exchanges
  • Collaborating with Infrastructure and Development teams for feature releases and technology migrations
  • Planning and executing changes to the exchange platforms
  • Supporting Cboe’s Incident Management process to promptly resolve and investigate technical issues
  • Driving and implementing capacity planning decisions for Operations
  • Developing, testing, and maintaining automation tools
  • Creating and improving monitoring tools and reports related to Operations
  • Participating in weekend testing and off-hours support as needed
