Who you are
- 12+ years of software design and development experience, solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and Software Design
- Experience leading major initiatives successfully
- Relevant experience building large-scale Search applications or similar experience
- Experience leading projects and teams accordingly
- Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes
- Experienced in utilizing data and analysis to explain technical problems and providing detailed feedback and solutions
- Experience in building large scale Web Services/ APIs (REST/ GraphQL/ gRPC)
- Experience in scalable distributed technologies, SQL, No-SQL databases and streaming technologies such as Kafka
- Master’s degree in computer science or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

- Develop world class search experiences incorporating software engineering best practices to enhance eBay’s search experience
- Lead complex technical efforts across many engineers
- Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for next gen technology solutions
- Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
- Conduct design and code reviews
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources
- Drive ideas to improve product and technology stack
- Set direction and goals for the team regarding project impact, product quality and engineering efficiency
- Lead major initiatives, projects, teams, roll-outs and phased-releases
- Helps onboard new team members, provides mentorship and enables successful ramp up on your team's code bases
- Proactively identify and drive changes as needed for the codebase, and/or systems
