Company mission

Reliable Robotics' mission is to help create a world in which aircrafts fly themselves, using artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, and automation.

Role

Who you are

  • Electrical Engineering fundamentals, typically gained through a Bachelor’s Degree of Science or Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of professional hands-on experience with electrical system-level development, integration, and testing
  • Ability to work within a team, including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot, find root cause, and resolve issues
  • We're looking for someone who is diligent and detail-oriented who can join our team and make an immediate impact
  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time

Desirable

  • Advanced Degree of Science or Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related discipline
  • Experience developing system architectures and managing requirements across multiple interfaces
  • Experience integrating and troubleshooting various electronic sensors and components
  • Creative problem solver that can bring multiple disciplines together with the ability to assess risk and make design and development decisions without all available data
  • Experience designing, drafting, and building aerospace wiring harnesses, including using ECAD tools such as E3, VeSys, IGE+XAO
  • Proven track record of shipping products and completing projects

What the job involves

  • As a Sr. Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be a part of our Avionics Hardware Engineering team
  • Your work will help bring together mechanical, electrical, GNC, and safety requirements to produce complex components that are key to the success of our efforts to automate aviation
  • You’ll collaborate with a broad set of teams to develop a system architecture and incorporate requirements across the hardware/software stack
  • In your role as a Sr. Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for defining Avionics system architecture and completing trades regarding performance, complexity, risk, and effort
  • You will drive the vehicle-level design, testing, and integration of avionics hardware, including computing, sensing, actuation, communication, power, and display systems
  • You will work across engineering teams and will implement an electrical system design that meets system-level and certification requirements
  • You will be the owner of multiple components (IMUs, air data computers, batteries) and will be responsible for how they are installed in the aircraft, verified, and certified at the aircraft level

Our take

The landscape of vehicles is rapidly changing with automation and robotics seeing application in cars, trucks, and even spacecraft. Whilst airplanes have seen semi-automatic pilot modes for decades, a human pilot is still required to finetune automated processes and to conduct routine tasks such as taxiing and landings.

Reliable Robotics provides self-driving technology to allow small cargo planes to make routine cargo deliveries without a pilot. Founded by former SpaceX and Tesla engineers, the company claims that all cognitive abilities required to fly a plane can be automated through machine learning and remote pilot assistance. This will allow cargo planes to utilize the thousands of smaller airports and rural landing strips that are currently underused due to the difficulty of manual landing in areas with poor infrastructure.

The company has attracted significant funding over the years, which is being used in research and development and improving the capabilities of its autonomous aircraft systems. Going forward the company plans to outfit larger cargo planes with its technology, and eventually trial autonomous passenger flights.
