Who you are

  • A minimum of 7 years of product management experience, with at least 2 years of experience managing product managers
  • Experience shipping B2B SaaS products
  • Have a track record of shipping successful data infrastructure products, or products with a heavy infrastructure focus
  • Solid communication skills in both verbal and written, able to tailor communication approach based on audience needs

What the job involves

  • The Product team at Klaviyo is continuously looking for ways to build and deliver the best possible product for our customers
  • We’re looking for Group Product Managers to join our rapidly growing team with expertise in solving problems with a customer-first mindset and bringing new products to market
  • You will work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to guide product development from concept to launch
  • These Group Product Managers will develop a team of product managers, in addition to providing leadership over a group-level functional domain
  • We are seeking a new Group Product Manager to lead the Data Platform group at Klaviyo
  • This role will be responsible for advancing Klaviyo’s core customer data infrastructure — coined the Data Platform — ensuring we are delivering a well-equipped and well-adopted solution for our internal customers as well as an extensible solution that maximizes value for our external customers
  • Set a vision for how the Data Platform can best serve Klaviyo’s own application teams while charting a path to externalize more of our data infrastructure overtime, so the best external applications of the future can also be built on Klaviyo
  • Drive the strategy and incremental roadmap for Klaviyo’s robust Data Platform
  • Understand Klaviyo’s customers—internal and external—so that you and your teams can drive a best-in-class customer experience
  • Dive deep into problems, sweat the details, and help your teams break things down into small, digestible pieces—and put them back together elegantly—to deliver exceptional products through incremental, agile methods
  • Be exceptionally articulate in written communication, using written words to drive clarity across your teams, the product organization, and the entire company
  • Find ways to accelerate your teams, pushing them forward while removing blockers, mentoring, and being a go-to resource for data platform across the product organization
  • Lead multiple product teams that deliver Klaviyo’s core data platform, serving both internal and external customers, executing efficiently and effectively
  • Drive the strategy and product roadmap for Data Platform
  • Work cross-functionally with other R&D leaders, Product Marketing, Sales and Success to ensure that we are ready to exceed the needs of our current and future customers
  • Mentor a team of exceptional product managers at different stages of their career
  • Collaborate with engineering and design peers to improve processes and ensure high quality work product within the Data Infrastructure pillar
  • In your first 30 days, you will get acclimated to Klaviyo and our product:
  • During the first two weeks, you will be immersed in an onboarding program that introduces you to the company and the product
  • Introduce yourself to everyone you will need to know in order to be successful in your role
  • Become deeply embedded into your teams, understanding what they are working on and helping them drive value for Klaviyo’s customers
  • In your first 60 days, you will become a valuable member of the team:
  • Take ownership of the Data Platform area of the product, and become the go-to expert
  • Have a quick impact by powering your teams to deliver on their roadmaps
  • In your first 90 days, you will continue to increase your influence:
  • Start to formulate the strategy and roadmap for the broader Data Platform area
  • Start contributing to knowledge sharing with the larger product team. We value learning and growth very highly

Klaviyo is a marketing firm helping growth-focused eCommerce brands drive more sales with super-targeted, highly relevant email, Facebook and Instagram marketing campaigns. From personalised newsletters to automated emails when customers abandon their shopping carts, the marketing automation platform makes it easy for businesses to capture, store, analyze, and predictively use their own data to drive measurable, high-value outcomes.

Klaviyo's CEO, Bialecki, believes that the main problem with e-mail marketing today is that there is a divide between two kinds of tools: analytics tools that help you understand what people are doing on a website, such as what products they are considering, and messaging tools that send them a marketing e-mail. Operating primarily within the retail and eCommerce industry, Klaviyo aims to solve this by offering a tool that brings together analytics and messaging. This allows companies to bring all of their first-party data into a single platform to get a deep understanding of their customers and then activate that data to deliver highly-targeted, personalised communications through email and SMS. In the process, Klaviyo's customers get a deep understanding of their consumers.

Klaviyo is a fast-growing company mainly due to its business model - the firm offers a concrete ROI for Klaviyo’s clients if the software persuades customers to make purchases by treating different types of customers differently. An IPO in 2023 has led to Klaviyo's release of Klaviyo AI, which empowers businesses to unlock revenue-driving opportunities and deliver exceptional customer experiences across channels. Still in its early days of public listing, it will be interesting to see how Klaviyo fares in the years to come.
