Who you are
- BA / BS degree or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of experience in a business-strategy role (Management consulting, Hedge Fund, Banking, Operations at a start-up, etc.)
- Outstanding executive-level verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization, project and time management skills
- Ability to plan and prioritize workload; ability to multitask and meet deadlines with quality product
- Passion for solving complex problems, and building scalable processes
- Comfort working in a high growth, constantly changing environment
Desirable
- Experience working at or on a Crypto-focused company or protocol, or at a Crypto Exchange
- MBA or advanced degree
- SQL experience
- Comfortable with crypto tools such as Dune Analytics and Etherscan
What the job involves
- Business Operations & Strategy is a cross-functional team working across the whole company –including both strategy and operations. The team is a partner to the senior leadership at Coinbase focusing on high-impact strategic projects and data analyses
- We're currently hiring for roles at both the Associate and Senior Associate levels
- Structure complex and ambiguous strategic problems for the Coinbase leadership team
- Develop a deep understanding of our peer and competitor positioning as well as the emerging crypto landscape to inform your recommendations
- Define clear hypotheses to identify new opportunities, and build business cases and quantitative models that will inform and influence our strategy
- Use data and insight to define changes, design experiments, and implement those changes across our products
- Passion to do whatever it takes to solve complex problems and build scalable processes
- Contribute to improving our capabilities by enhancing existing processes and recruiting and developing new team members
Our take
Coinbase allows its users to create their own crypto wallets and start buying or selling cryptocurrencies by connecting with their bank accounts. It also provides a series of merchant payment processing systems and tools that support transactions with many popular websites.
Coinbase has recently made a big push to broaden its services away from consumers and they want to cater services from institutional investors.
Coinbase currently offers one of the largest selection of cryptocurrency assets - over 10,000 but does not allow trading on all of them. The company wisely keeps such offerings to the most stable assets however, the list is always expanding. Coinbase see a much wider adoption of cryptocurrency and tokens in the future, and plan to expand potentially to millions in the future. It speaks volumes to Coinbase's goals of wider global adoption that former UK Finance Minister George Osborne is now an Advisor at the company.
Coinbase's lofty ambitions paid off in it being the first crypto listing on the NASDAQ. The company has weathered several bull and bear runs in the cryptocurrency industry through diversification of its offerings, including wallet-as-a-service technology for crypto platforms, and has acquired healthy coffers of cryptocurrency assets. The aim is to eventually operate independently of the volatility surrounding cryptocurrencies.
