Company mission

To give small business owners a great experience while getting the finance they need.

Role

Who you are

  • Expertise in recruiting back-end engineers (iwoca uses Python, Django, and Rust)
  • Emotional intelligence; you ask insightful questions, listen carefully, show empathy, and build good relationships with candidates and stakeholders
  • Highly organised, pragmatic, and able to prioritise effectively
  • An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) superuser (ideally with Ashby)

Desirable

  • Experience recruiting data scientists, data engineers, product staff, full-stack developers and front-end developers
  • Ability to identify better ways to source candidates and are willing to “test and learn” from new approaches, showing patience and flexibility in adapting to the results
  • Tech savvy, comfortable with numbers and using Google Sheets, and able to use data to improve the hiring process. You’re familiar with a data-driven recruitment approach

What the job involves

  • You'll recruit for the Tech, Analytics, and Product teams
  • You’ll drive the process from sourcing to hire, while refining methods and championing diversity
  • With sharp emotional intelligence, and a data-driven mindset, you'll create outstanding candidate experiences
  • The People Operations team creates and applies strategies to help iwoca attract, develop, and keep top talent. There are five other recruiters, and we use tools like Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter and Otta to source talent and manage our pipelines
  • We’re progressive, innovative, data-driven, and are always pushing for a higher bar, to improve the standards in clear and measurable ways
  • This role focuses on hiring for the Tech, Analytics, and Product (TAP) team:
  • Full life cycle recruitment: Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from salary benchmarking, candidate sourcing, screening interviews, tech tests, interviews, debriefs, offers, negotiations, acceptance, and pre-onboarding. You will collect and share feedback at each stage
  • Stakeholder partnership: Partner with hiring managers and senior leaders to understand job needs, write job descriptions, advise on the best hiring strategies, and ensure smooth interview processes for the hiring team and the candidates
  • Improving processes: Regularly review and refine recruitment methods, using data to confirm techniques that boost efficiency, minimise bias and enhance the candidate experience

Our take

UK SME's are the backbone of a complex economy that is constantly changing, so the need for fast and responsive access to finance is becoming more and more important to ensure their success and growth. iwoca allows SMEs access to business loans in less than a minute, with its API and business marketplace partnerships.

With offerings like iwoca's, gone are the days where waiting up to eight weeks for a loan decision was viable. Its simplified business loans of £1,000 - £500,000 come with no fees attached, and applying online takes no more than five minutes. The ready availability of iwoca loans gives business owners a level of certainty, so that they can make instant decisions to help their business grow.

iwoca has made a number of partnerships with other players in the business finance space, including an impressive industry-first invoice checkout integration with QuickBooks. Funding raised by the company, which is now operating at net profitability, will enable it to meet a recent surge in demand for corporate loans. The company has made several billion in funding available to over 100,000 businesses since launching, positioning itself as a leading European fintech.

Company values

  • Motivated: Going to work shouldn't feel like a slog, so we want everyone in the team to personally care about what they're working on. We stay motivated by celebrating our wins, learning from our mistakes, and always looking for new gaps to step into.
  • Smart: At iwoca being smart isn't about what you know, it's about how you think. Smart thinking means looking at each problem by asking ‘why’ first, then figuring out ‘how’.
  • Humble: We know all ideas are flawed, all code has bugs, and everyone makes mistakes - it’s how we learn. For us, being humble means you question yourself first, rather than your team.
  • Growth Mindset: We think there's always a better way to solve a problem. So we never let ourselves get comfortable with being good enough.
