Who you are

  • 1-2+ years experience writing product level copy
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is preferred
  • Understanding of sales techniques to help sell and promote different meal types
  • Attention to detail, good communication skills, and an ability to juggle multiple tasks on often short deadlines
  • Understanding of food, nutrition, and culinary terminology
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

What the job involves

  • At CookUnity, the Brand Marketing team is responsible for developing and executing world-class marketing activations that drive brand awareness and earn loyalty beyond reason. Brand Marketing sets the vision and strategy for the brand and brings it to life with strategic rigor, creative excellence, and cultural relevance
  • Through insight-inspired, data-informed brand storytelling and experiences, CookUnity’s Brand Marketing team will build a category-defining brand loved by an entire generation of foodies
  • We are seeking an ambitious, creative copywriter to help bring our chefs' culinary creations to life through engaging and enticing food copywriting. Your words will inform and captivate our customers, showcasing the unique flavors, ingredients, and health benefits of each dish
  • You will collaborate closely with our chefs, supply teams, and Brand team to ensure our meal descriptions align with our brand voice and marketing strategies. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a passion for food and storytelling
  • You will report to CookUnity’s Chief Storyteller and work with influential leaders throughout the company
  • Write clear, engaging, and persuasive meal descriptions and titles that highlight the unique selling points of each dish
  • Create chef bios to showcase the unique talents of each of our creators
  • Develop copy for our food collections on the site to help promote and sell our products weekly
  • Craft emotional meal descriptions for the front of meal sleeves
  • Maintain a deep understanding of CookUnity’s audience and customers to ensure all copy is highly relevant and resonant with our target audience
  • Ensure all copy aligns with the brand's tone, style, and messaging guidelines
  • Conduct research on food trends, ingredients, and culinary techniques to enhance the quality of descriptions
  • Edit and proofread copy for accuracy, grammar, and consistency
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitor offerings to maintain a competitive edge

Our take

CookUnity is a meal subscription service which connects consumers with some of the country's best known chefs, including Esther Choi, Chris Ratel and Andy Mendez. Consumers can select from a menu of handcrafted meals that cater to a wide variety of palates and dietary preferences. Believing that healthy food fuels stronger communities, CookUnity contributes to an ongoing partnership and donation with the Food Bank For New York City.

The New York founded business hit the headlines for its upward trajectory in 2020, where it secured 15.5 million in funding and saw an expected boost not just in demand, but in the supply of top culinary talent at a time when restaurants were struggling.

While there’s a wide world of meal plan delivery services, CookUnity has a jump on much of the competition as it’s the first service that connects such eminent chefs directly with the customer. This has allowed it to expand across much of the US, and it now prepares over 10 million meals annually for its 50,000 subscribers.

With most of the urban US now covered by its service, CookUnity is moving into the next phase of its growth, expanding the range of sellers and food products on the platform, and has plans to offer family-sized portions, brekfast options and cooking classes using its existing physical and digital infrastructure. This will enable it to grow into an all-in-one meal subscription service over the coming years.
