What the job involves

  • We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Partnership Experience team and help us maintain our global platform so that it’s scalable, reliable and secure
  • We’re working on a lot of algorithmical challenges, so you’ll need to be someone who’s able to dive right into projects on reconciliation, integrations, authorisations and authentications
  • The Partnership Experience team’s goals are to provide Wise Platform partners with a fully self-serve experience to integrate with Wise, and to help them manage the live integration independently in a back office tool or via APIs in their existing tooling

  • Building solutions to improve integration experience for partners integrating with Wise API
  • Improving internal tooling that helps Wise operational teams serve our partners’ queries more efficiently
  • Working closely with non-engineering teams to support partner integrations alongside product managers and embark on new and thrilling projects that expand our network of global partnerships
  • Collaborating with talented engineering teams, exploring various domains, and contributing to over 700 Microservices at Wise
  • Choose your own path to success – you’ll have the freedom to define the vision and responsibility for making it happen

Otta's take

Theo Margolius headshot

Theo Margolius

COO of Otta

Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.

Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. They've attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.

The challenge for Wise will be maintaining their edge and brand power in a market that's becoming increasingly crowded with new entrants (like Revolut and Monzo) and incumbents (traditional banks) trying to catch up. To do so, the company is ramping up its digital and marketing strategies, as well as pushing for further development of its existing products.
