Who you are

  • Excellent at analysing and communicating complex data or technical functionality
  • 1-3 years working experience as a technical business or finance analyst
  • Detail-oriented, aiming to deliver high-quality work
  • Curious and have a critical mindset
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment requiring excellent time management and the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Experienced in analysing data using SQL, Python, and data visualisations tools such as Looker is a strong advantage

What the job involves

  • As a Business Analyst - Pricing in the Cards Pricing team, you'll be central to Adyen's financial performance in global card payments.
  • You'll be our product team's expert on interchange and scheme fee charges for Card Networks such as Mastercard and Visa in the EMEA region, ensuring the financial stability of Adyen’s transactional cost prediction engine.
  • You'll build insights to foster a comprehensive understanding of the complex fee network, supporting Adyen's commitment to fee transparency and reducing our customer’s total cost of payment.
  • Our Global Cards Pricing team works closely together with global teams, including Product, Finance, and Partnerships
  • Ensure merchants are charged the most optimal and accurate cost price for transactions
  • Analyse: Identify the necessary data to address questions, extract the required data, and perform analysis
  • Optimise: Build and refine technical pricing models, devising methods to detect anomalies and monitor them
  • Improve: Suggest and develop processing improvements for implementation and reconciliation processes
  • Configuration: Implement fee change rollouts to maintain our cost infrastructure and manage the merchant experience

Our take

Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7bn, it raised over €1bn and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14bn. Its valuation has continued to climb by the billions.

Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.

Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
