Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the SP Success team and further our mission of bringing visual development superpowers to everyone and to build thriving businesses on top of Webflow
- Have 5+ years developing and deploying web applications, with a proven track record of shipping to market
- Excellent organization and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Have worked on complex issues where the analysis requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and existing architecture
- Can debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
- Take pride in taking ownership and driving projects to business impact
- Proven experience building complex web systems
- Are familiar with one or more Javascript type systems (we use Flow here)
- Are comfortable working in an agile, safe-to-fail environment
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Engineer Manager
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish our business goals
- Build amazing end-to-end API and developer experiences, ensuring that they are reliable and scalable
- Write scalable services, as well as new APIs and rewriting old ones, in Node.js, Express.js, Mongo, GraphQL, Apollo and AWS Lambda. We use Javascript and Typescript
- Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, designers, and QA analysts in an autonomous, supportive team environment
- Solve problems in a highly technical platform that empowers hundreds of thousands of people
- Improve our planning, development, and deployment processes to help you and your fellow team members
- Mentor, coach, and inspire a team of engineers of various levels

Webflow is one such platform that allows non-developers to create professional websites without knowing any code. It joins others such as Pantheon, Weebly, Squarespace, and Wix in a hotly-contested low-code development market. While competition is high, so too is demand, with low-code platforms accounting for more than 65% of application development activity in 2024.
The popularity of platforms such as Webflow is perhaps not surprising, as low-code development is usually cheaper for companies to implement and reduces time to market. Webflow has been used by over 3.5 million designers and teams to create sites for companies including enterprise brands such as Dell, Rakuten, UpWork, and Petal. It raised a large amount of funding in a Series C round in 2022. This is being used to further develop its platform, with a longer-term goal of pivoting to providing a no-code tool not only for websites, but software development as well.
