Role
Who you are
- You have proven knowledge of machine learning and/or statistics and can apply it to complex unstructured data
- You have competency in Python and familiarity with other programming languages such as C++ or Java
- You have experience with implementing numerical methods and data visualisation
- You have strong knowledge of algorithm design, evaluation and implementation
- You have experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g. Torch, TensorFlow)
- You have the ability to adopt an innovative approach to thinking about data in new and creative ways
- You have hands on experience of communicating results and findings clearly and efficiently across different levels of audience understanding
- You have a Masters in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or equivalent
Desirable
- You have previous experience in Natural Language Processing with large language models
- You have experience with GPU programming
- You have previous experience leading your own machine learning projects within academia and/or private sector
- You have a PhD in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or equivalent
- You have working knowledge of source control management such as Git and issue management systems such as GitHub or JIRA
- You are familiar with AWS, GCP or Azure
What the job involves
- Implementing machine learning systems in a variety of environments, particularly in the cloud
- Integrating established research into high-value and high-impact applied projects
- Performing applied research to use machine learning (particularly deep learning, transfer learning and few-shot learning) in real world problems
- Collaborating with Software Engineers to build end-to-end working analytics code, including designing and evaluating new ideas (prototyping) as well as making simple solutions work for customers
- Reporting and presenting results and findings clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally

Our take
ClimateAligned wants to empower institutional investors with the information they need to make climate-positive investments, by building the first AI platform that supplies sustainability, ESG and climate data alongside investment intelligence in one place.
The company leverages machine learning to collect and analyse the relevant data from multiple sources. The key idea is to increase transparency and comparability, helping to combat greenwashing while enhancing the efficiency with which its users can make informed decisions.
Launched in 2023, with £1.5 million in funding from leading VC investors, ClimateAligned is clearly off to a good start. The uniqueness of its offering, alongside increasing commitment from investors to improve the sustainability of their portfolios, should mean it has plenty of opportunity to grow into the future.
