Company mission

To support families and businesses, helping them to take the next step, whatever that may be.

Role

Who you are

  • You’re passionate about delivering all things UX and product design
  • You’re highly skilled and competent at what you do. You pride yourself on your work and have a strong attention to detail
  • You’ve designed for iOS / Android apps before and are always up to speed with best practices
  • You always take ownership of your work and are good at managing your own time. You’re able to balance multiple tasks at once
  • You care about your craft and ultimately want to make a difference
  • You’re an advocate for simplicity, usability and accessibility
  • You’re proactive, always looking for the next innovation or efficiency

What the job involves

  • We’re part of the Mass Affluent lab at Lloyds Banking Group, focused on delivering an enhanced proposition for an underserved, high-value customer segment within the bank
  • Our work is predominantly app focused, across the three main brands of Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland
  • The design team works closely with product, analytics and engineering to solve problems for the Mass Affluent segment—researching, crafting and delivering new and innovative propositions and features. We often see our most successful solutions later rolled out to benefit all customers, too
  • You’ll design the app experience for two feature teams
  • You’ll contribute to discovery workshops, conduct competitor research, create wireframes and journey maps, support user research, and more
  • You’ll work closely with the rest of the design squad, proactively communicating, contributing ideas, and challenging each other’s thinking
  • You’ll live in Figma and Figjam. Whiteboard sessions, wireframing and prototyping are your bread and butter
  • You’ll enjoy and contribute towards a bold, positive and inclusive team culture
  • You’ll be equally comfortable running a stakeholder call to share a new concept, being heads-down working on a new flow, or listening in to a usability test with a customer

Our take

Lloyds Bank, part of Lloyds Banking Group, began operations back in 1765 and is nowadays one of the UK’s leading retail and commercial banks. As with many leading banks, the company has dealt with its share of controversy – including for its handling of PPI complaints in 2015, and the 2009 European Commission ruling that forced it to part ways with TSB – but it has nonetheless stood the test of time and worked to build back its public reputation in the wake of these setbacks.

Of the company’s 26 million customers, over 18 million of them are online, making it the largest UK digital bank. As part of its ongoing digital transformation, the company is seeking to put the cloud at the front of its services and systems, and has cited intentions to invest heavily in overhauling its current technology infrastructure. All this seeks to serve the modern banking customer, and to compete with the fast-increasing number of alternative banking options appearing on the market.

Recently, Lloyds Bank has shown great interest in facilitating innovation in the industry, joining as a partner on FinTech Action Labs (a FinTech accelerator programme) to bring its industry expertise to early-stage FinTechs. As well as investment in digital transformation and AI, the company is enhancing its wealth product and corporate banking offerings, as well as expanding its partnerships with digital banking companies.
