Role

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Life Sciences or related field; MBA, MS or PhD is a plus
  • Minimum of 3+ years of sales experience in the data platform or life sciences industry
  • A demonstrated successful track record in pitching and completing deals with midcap customers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client engagements, at all levels, to ensure delivery of value, and to expand use of a technology or service deeply and broadly throughout accounts
  • Experience managing negotiations and communications on multiple contracts simultaneously or interfacing with highly matrixed multi-disciplinary teams to complete contract terms
  • Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies and adjust them as necessary in response to market changes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze sales data and market trends to inform decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to deliver compelling sales presentations
  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet with customers and attend industry events and trade shows
  • Driven to be successful in a commercial and sales-oriented career

Desirable

  • MS/PhD or equivalent experience in a biotechnology or life sciences field. Bioinformatics/Computational Bio or similar experience preferred
  • Deep knowledge of the data platform or biopharma life cycle – strong grasp of the tradeoffs and pain points faced by users at every stage
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, with a high level of self-motivation and self-discipline
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

What the job involves

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing and new accounts in your region
  • Manage multiple biopharma accounts in the US territory at various stages of the cycle from prospecting through to value delivery
  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to achieve Watershed’s goals and revenue targets in your region
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, key customers, and stakeholders in the industry
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to make informed decisions and adjust the sales strategy as necessary
  • Ensure that you are trained and equipped with the necessary tools to effectively sell the company's products and solutions
  • Represent Watershed at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, and build a strong brand presence in the market
  • Own the end-to-end process of tracking the sales funnel and operational metrics, providing regular updates to leadership
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and finance to become a performance enhancement partner and to synchronize key business functions

There is no lack of data generated in biological labs, but the specialized programming knowledge required for effective data analysis is not always present in research teams. Watershed's platform is designed to be used with minimal coding skills and is built specifically for multi-omics analysis including bulk-cell analysis, single-cell analysis, and spatial analysis.
