Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 5 years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience as Software Test Engineer, Senior Software Test Enginee
- Technical Lead, Staff Test Engineer, Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Software Engineer, Engineer-Software Engineering, or a related occupation required
- The required work experience must include 5 years of experience using the following skills:
- Layer 3 protocols including IPV4, IPV6, BGP and OSPF
- Layer 2 protocols including DOT1X, EVPN, MSTP, RSTP, LACP, VRRP, multi chassis LAG, and virtual chassis
- Experience with CISCO ISE, Aruba Clearpass, Commercial switches and routers from Arista, CISCO, Juniper is highly desired
- Python programming language; and
- Traffic generator tools from IXIA and SPIRENT
What the job involves
- We are looking for a passionate Software Test Engineer to help our customer to build, maintain, and troubleshoot our Security solution using Versa Networks’ carrier grade products
- You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competence and deliver mission critical infrastructure
- Design, develop and execute test plans for testing Layer 2 protocols such as DOT1X, EVPN, MSTP, RSTP, LACP, VRRP, multi chassis LAG, and virtual chassis
- Design, develop and execute test plans for testing software features on Layer 3 protocols such as IPV4, IPV6, OSPF and BGP
- Experience with CISCO ISE, Aruba Clearpass, Commercial switches and routers from Arista, CISCO, Juniper is highly desired
- Automate test cases using Python programming language for testing various software features
- Design network topologies for testing Layer 2, Layer 3 protocol functionalities using commercial traffic generator tools from IXIA and SPIRENT
Our take
The secure access service edge (SASE) is composed of a complex group of networking and cloud software tools like software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN), secure web gateways (SWG), and firewall-as-a-service. SASE itself functions to better deliver cybersecurity tech, and as such it’s big business right now. Versa Networks is capitalizing on this, with its in-cloud and on-premise flexible SASE solutions.
While the company faces competition against SASE rivals such as Juniper Networks (where the founders left to kick off Versa Networks), and major players like Cisco and Cloudflare. Startups are pulling in hefty funding, too: Cato Networks is a Unicorn twice over, and Netskope is valued at nearly fourfold that. Add to that the current SASE market is set to grow from its 2021 $3 billion valuation to $6 billion by 2028.
This should come as no surprise. SASE sits at the juncture of the lucrative and high-growth sectors of cloud computing, cybersecurity, and networking, and is expected to have a sweeping addressable market as more businesses pivot onto the cloud. Versa Networks is set to hold its own against well-funded startups and acquisitive enterprises, recently completing a "pre-IPO" fundraise of $120 million, the company has positioned itself to deepen its hold on its slice of the market.
