  • Migrations & Modernizations continue to be a top strategic priority next only to the security and operational performance of the AWS platform
  • Migrations & Modernizations are a key focus of our business and a critical element of customer success
  • Customers’ decisions are driven by compelling events such as a cost-objectives, target dates to exit and consolidate data centres, or end of life hardware and software
  • But Boards of Directors expect more than just cost savings and efficiency
  • Even though customers are achieving 25-50% savings in AWS vs. on premises costs, they want to be able to move faster as businesses and transform customer experiences
  • They want to deliver digital transformations and modernize their businesses
  • And they want to re-invest cost savings to drive new innovations and business models
  • This role will take ownership of developing focused migration pipeline, orchestrating a variety of AWS programs, resources and partners to define and execute those opportunities
  • As a BDM, you will support customers to accelerate in their migration and modernization journey to AWS and help them to expedite the achievement of their business objectives
  • Through taking a focused and structured approach to using programs and resources to meet market needs, the role will support the wider Business Development Team to achieve its objectives
  • The role will drive significant migration pipeline and play a key role in contributing to AWS growth in the EMEA region
  • Play a crucial customer facing role, expected to engage with customer executives to define large scale migration and transformation programs
  • Engage the market with defined sales approaches for specific technologies, industries and use cases to generate new large migration pipeline
  • Create repeatable proposals and migration assessment, planning and delivery approaches for specific workloads
  • Define and participate in customer and partner events and executive briefings to support pipeline development
  • Orchestrate AWS resources and partners to support pipeline development initiatives
  • Create internal and external collateral to enable clear communication of initiatives to customers by AWS and partners
  • Create constructs suited for customers, drawing upon a variety of incentive programs available
  • Work with colleagues across AWS to provide feedback/proposals to modify programs according to the needs of our customers/market
  • Educate and enable AWS and partner stakeholders on pipeline generation initiatives to enable them to sell propositions effectively to customers
  • Own a pipeline of migration opportunities to develop practical sales knowledge to ensure program familiarity and gain first hand experience of customer interactions
  • On a daily basis you will focus on customer large migration and modernisation opportunities, and work towards building and delivering against pipeline generation goals
  • You will orchestrate AWS resources, programs, tools, partners and data to create these initiatives, working backwards from the needs of the market to build compelling proposals for AWS and partners to present to customers how AWS supports their business goals

The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
