Who you are

- 5+ years of experience in backend development
- Mastery of Nest.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and cloud services (preferably Google Cloud)
- Deep understanding of server-side logic and architecture
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Previous experience at a high growth startup is preferred
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to develop robust and scalable backend solutions for our all-in-one experiential platform
- In this pivotal role, you will be an integral member of our engineering team, working on core products and owning critical parts that drive significant revenue
- This role focuses on enhancing system performance and user data interactions, employing cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- You will have the opportunity to lead the execution from an ambiguous scope to a definitive outcome, using technologies and tactics that balance speed, functionality, and long-term robustness
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient backend features and APIs following sound Domain-Driven Design principles
- Work with various technologies to ensure application scalability and reliability
- Own large new areas within our product, from conception through to deployment and maintenance
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration and user experience
- Deliver high-quality code at a high velocity to engage our customers and meet market demands
- Work across the entire product lifecycle, contributing to both strategic planning and operational execution
- Be adaptable, with the ability to multi-task and learn new technologies quickly
- Mentor less-experienced team members
Our take
Way’s brand activation platform is used by boutique hotel groups and independent hotels to curate and offer experiences & events to boost brand awareness and loyalty. The company was founded on the belief that consumers far prefer spending on experiences than products.
Since being founded in 2020, Way has picked up a number of well known hotel brands including Salt Hotels and Life House Hotels in North America. The fact that it's already expanded to an office in Paris is a good indication of its strong growth.
Since securing major funding from Tiger Global, Way has also been adding to its executive team as it looks to expand even further on the international front. Indeed, plans are in motion to pivot into adjacent sectors including retail and media, where brand activation experiences are also growing in demand.
