Otta's take

CTO of Otta

Founded in 1967 as a UK research institute for the development of computer aided design, AVEVA has since grown to become a world leader in industrial software with its products used by over 20,000 companies worldwide. Primarily focusing on energy, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors, it has also expanded into numerous other industrial applications, and its clients include enterprises such as Danone, GlaxoSmithKline and Borg to name just a few.

AVEVA has historically provided software solutions as a product to its customers. As industrial digitisation has picked up pace in recent years it has struggled with the transition to software as a service, which has swiftly become standard amongst its Internet of Things competitors such as IBM Waston IoT and EMQ Technologies. However, AVEVA has concluded its takeover by Schneider Electronics in a move that is expected to accelerate the company through this difficult transition period while supporting its ongoing R&D efforts and market expansion.

This development is not their only recent success, AVEVA has received plaudits for its process simulation software, allowing engineers to see in advance how their designs will translate into production and, crucially, greenhouse gas emissions. With an increasing reach and growing portfolio of industrial solutions, AVEVA is taking aim at becoming the number one SaaS provider of industrial software and information services.
