What the job involves
- You will be the leader of the Kong Kubernetes team
- This team is responsible for delivering the enterprise and open-source versions of both Kong Ingress Controller and Kong Gateway Operator
- As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead and grow a distributed team and be responsible for providing technical leadership to key projects, and empowering and developing the team members to do the same
- You and your team will build, and continuously improve the Kong Kubernetes offering
- Kong creates software and managed services that connect APIs and microservices natively across and within clouds, Kubernetes, data centers and more using intelligent automation
- Built on an open source core, Kong’s service connectivity platform enables digital innovation by allowing organizations to reliably and securely manage the full lifecycle of APIs and services for modern architectures, including microservices, serverless and service mesh
- By providing developer teams with unprecedented architectural freedom, Kong accelerates innovation cycles, increases productivity, and seamlessly bridges legacy and modern systems and applications
- Building software and systems to manage infrastructure and customer-facing applications on Kubernetes
- Managing through uncertainty and partnering closely with development teams to design, build, deploy, support, and monitor new and existing Kong cloud services
- Measuring and optimizing service performance and change management
- Manage releases
- Hire, mentor and maintain healthy engineers who value collaboration and innovation
- Work closely with the rest of the product engineering team to deliver novel software solutions to customer problems
- Work closely with the Gateway team to integrate Kong’s newest features and improvements into the ingress controller and controller
- Give constructive feedback to Engineers, conduct 1:1’s, perform performance reviews and strive for continuous improvement
- Suggest guidelines, principles and processes to improve the Engineering org
