Role
Who you are
- To be successful, you’ll need to be a customer-centric designer that balances business goals with creative execution
- 4+ years of product design experience, with at least 1+ years independently leading UX projects
- Diagnostic testing, genetics, or biotech experience is preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to think and articulate objectively
- Extensive experience with Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Overflow, and Zeplin
- Experience with analytics tools like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and Segment
What the job involves
- BillionToOne is looking for a dynamic and talented Lead UX Product Designer to own and manage all UX Design. UX plays a critical role in the diagnostic testing field.
- As we all personally experienced with COVID testing, a product is judged by the end-to-end user experience.
- This starts with ordering the test, collecting the sample, waiting for the results to arrive, through receiving the test results.
- As BillionToOne’s product designer, you’ll get to design a world-class, seamless, end-to-end user experience for both physical lab operations (used by internal members of our clinical lab), and digital experiences (used by external healthcare providers and patients) including owning BabyPeek, our direct to consumer genetic testing
- As the company’s only designer, you’ll play a critical role collaborating closely with R&D, engineering, our clinical team, marketing and company leadership, to implement various design solutions to significantly improve the user experience across the board.
- This is a high impact role with tremendous growth potential and your responsibility will expand quickly as the company scales.
- This is a hybrid position at our Menlo Park office (WFH 1-2 days a week)
- As a UX Product Design Lead, you will be responsible for creating unique, clean and delightful experiences for all stakeholders
- Deeply understand user behaviors (external customers and internal users) every step of the way, and solve pain points for them through better UX design
- Drive the design vision of the company, working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing leaders
- Work closely with Product Management and Engineering to plan and create a backlog, push features and design updates, and QA and fix bugs
- Work on features and products that cross all experiences; both involving lab processes and software (desktop, mobile web, and native mobile)
- Design and iterate solutions with various stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Present your work effectively through prototypes, user journey diagrams etc., and help guide decision-making in a thoughtful, empathic, and productive way
- User quantitative and qualitative data to create designs that serve the user
Our take
BillionToOne is a precision diagnostics company. Its proprietary molecular counting platform (Quantitative Counting Templates) accurately counts DNA molecules at the single-count level, which has the ability to significantly improve disease detection. While initially focused on prenatal screening and oncological liquid biopsies, the company’s QTC technology is highly scalable and has the ability to make vast improvements to a range of disease detection verticals.
The company’s funding efforts will enable it to focus on further development and commercialization of its noninvasive prenatal screening test and oncology products. However, it will need to maintain a strategic outlook, prioritizing areas with higher testing frequencies in order to provide maximum patient benefit, while balancing test development costs.
BillionToOne has an important role to play in improving healthcare equity. As more promising peer-reviewed research studies are conducted and providers have increased confidence in the company’s tests, BillionToOne has significant growth potential.
