Role

Who you are

  • The Specialist Solutions Engineer has a background in Development and is passionate and knowledgeable about Customer Identity
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
  • Proficient with at least one backend stack (such as Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby) and a popular frontend stack (such as React, Angular, Vue)
  • Experience with authentication protocols such as OAuth2.0, SAML or OpenID Connect
  • Experience working with REST APIs and SDKs
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas and solutions, incorporating whiteboarding, practical examples, and product demonstrations
  • Experience in a customer-facing role such as consulting, support, teaching, or pre-sales
  • You're a natural at building relationships, listening, and managing time well

Desirable

  • Experience working in a Pre-Sales role as Sales Engineer or Solutions Engineer
  • Experience in mobile (iOS, Android) development
  • Experience working with HTTP, HTML, and REST services. This includes using the dev tools in a browser to explain HTTP traffic and an HTTP client (like curl or Postman) to interact with an HTTP service
  • Understanding of core security concerns within a typical application (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF)

What the job involves

  • In this role, the Specialist Solutions Engineer will be a technical expert who can engage with Okta's broader field team and breadth of technical influencers in our customers to help them address their identity management challenges, driving a clear technical preference for Okta's Customer Identity Cloud (CIC) offering
  • This individual will be the go-to Customer Identity Cloud Specialist, supporting the Benelux region
  • The Specialist Solutions Engineer will support and enable the field teams to execute today and grow to meet Okta's future needs
  • They will define and maintain a high bar for expectations and support the team in achieving them
  • Support the Core SE and AE with complex technical engagements
  • Whiteboard solutions, modeling how Okta's Customer Identity Cloud (CIC) will support their current architecture requirements and use cases
  • Lead Q&A sessions with prospective customers to understand their requirements
  • Deliver interactive presentations and solution demonstrations to all levels of an organization
  • Execute well-defined, outcome-focused PoCs and PoVs
  • Maintain a broad and deep technical understanding of the Okta Customer Identity Cloud product line and the underlying technologies and protocols
  • Use this deep understanding to champion the Customer Identity Cloud solution internally within the Benelux region, enabling Solutions Engineers on new developments
  • Support and encourage strong feedback loops between Solutions Engineering, Product, Engineering, Marketing and Professional Services organizations
  • Stay current on industry trends through self-study, research, and online courses
  • Proactive engagement in local and regional sales and marketing events
  • Work from home or in the office with up to 25% travel within the region
