  • Motivation: You have a passion and drive to change consumer finance for the better
  • Diligence: You are detail-oriented in identifying and defining edge cases and dependencies and are resourceful in mitigating blockers and navigating ambiguity
  • Analytical skills: You have a data-driven learning style and can use quantitative information to guide decisioning

What the job involves

  • This role is part of the Merchant Pricing team, which is responsible for merchant monetization, increasing consumer conversion, and optimizing loan economics across the entire portfolio of merchants and channel partnerships
  • In joining this team, you will be at the center of Affirm’s monetization and conversion strategy to expand our footprint into new verticals, geographies, and product offerings
  • The team drives innovative solutions that fuel both merchant and user experiences in the US and globally while partnering with a wide variety of teams including but not limited to product, engineering, analytics, design, marketing, legal, capital, commercial and more
  • This role is part of the Decisioning and Pricing product group in charge of Affirm's credit underwriting and consumer and merchant pricing strategy
  • Define and socialize the product vision and strategy in collaboration with your peers in Pricing Engineering and Analytics
  • Define new products and features with requirement specs, product flows, and designs
  • Analyze and quantify the impact of product features and define metrics for success
  • Establish yourself as a trusted partner of our Pricing, Commercial, and Engineering teams
  • Become recognized as a domain expert in the subject matter that drives merchant monetization and conversion
  • Collaborate across functions – including engineering, design, analytics, legal, compliance, marketing, commercial, pricing and others – to successfully launch and scale products
  • Collaborate across product teams to support initiatives that interface with Affirm’s Pricing capabilities (e.g., international expansion, large merchant integrations, and new product verticals)

Our take

Affirm offers point-of-sale loans to consumers, working with merchants like Shopify, KAYAK, and Walmart. Buy now, pay later transactions have grown in popularity in recent years, and this business is tapping into the market with a totally different approach to credit - by delivering the Affirm card, the first US debit card with the option to pay-over-time.

Boating over 15 million customers and 245,000+ merchants, the company offers flexible payback options, ranging from 3 to 36 months. The interest rates run between 0% and 30%, so, while they are not necessarily the cheapest option, Affirm prides itself on having no fees for late payments, no hidden charges, and total transparency about what people will pay before they take out a loan.

Affirm collects payments from the customers and pays the merchants directly, shouldering the risk itself. The company has boosted its market share, expanding its availability beyond the US to include most of Canada, and continues to launch new features and create new partnerships towards bettering its offering.
