Role
Who you are
- Robust software engineering skills, and a track record of building custom tools that fit internal needs across a large range of teams including CI/CD/CT systems, logging pipelines, etc
- Expertise in Python programming with a proven track record of successful project implementation
- Knowledge of numerical libraries like numpy, scipy, or pandas
- Thorough understanding of programming fundamentals such as OOP, data structures and algorithm design
- Good command of multiprocessing techniques for efficient event-based processing on devices in the context of machine learning applications
- Strong enthusiasm for code quality, and desire to build long-standing and stable systems
- Familiarity with software engineering deployment methods (containerization, continuous integration/continuous deployment, shell scripting)
- Strong communication skills in English
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years industry experience with software development or infrastructure engineering
- Track record of building custom tools in Python
Desirable
- Background in statistics, signal processing, optimization, and machine learning
- Experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Experience with key infra technologies like NoSQL solutions (ElasticSearch for example), Kubernetes, Google/AWS services
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, JAX, etc
- Experience working with real-time signals, or time-series data
- Experience building hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure, in a codified manner, and with an understanding of the trade-offs of cloud vs on-prem solutions
- Experience administrating modern Linux systems in production environments; Systems administration experience on Windows and macOS is welcome

- Use strong software engineering principles to build new solutions for real-time neural-interfacing, and improve our existing codebase
- Build comprehensive data management systems for scalable data collection, labeling, processing, and evaluation across multiple teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet internal needs, including CI/CD/CT systems and logging pipelines

Snap is the social media giant that owns Snapchat, a social media mobile app released in 2011. Created to serve as a more emotive communication form than texting, the app has gained mass popularity, reaching upwards of 400 million daily users worldwide.
After rejecting a billion dollar acquisition from Meta (then Facebook) in 2013, Snap has found itself in competition with the social media giant, particularly with Instagram. Despite this, the company has marked a place for itself in the ever competitive social media space through developing features like a Discover tab, augmented reality lenses, in-app games, ads and monetisation options, as well as launching its paid service, Snapchat+.
Snap has so far not earned an annual profit since going public in 2017, but as Snapchat's user base has continually increased it has nearly closed the gap. Like other tech companies it suffered in late 2022 due to a surprise drop in advertising revenue, but has been rebuilding to its former trajectory since then. Given Snapchat's lasting popularity amongst young people, further success appears likely.
