Role

Who you are

  • 5+ years conducting research, preferably for a B2B, digital-first company and/or an online marketplace
  • Proven track record of taking research data and transforming it into actionable insights that drive real decisions and business impact
  • Experience with all aspects of the research process: study design, recruitment, moderation, questionnaire design, analysis, reporting, and executive presentations
  • Experience managing a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods: surveys, in-depth interviews, focus groups, diary studies, field research, brand tracking, etc
  • Strong storytelling skills and ability to create compelling narratives and frameworks
  • A transparent, collaborative approach to working that invites others into the process, keeps them informed and involved, and welcomes feedback
  • Experience building and owning relationships with cross-functional peers
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • A bias for action and experimentation: “Try it and track it” is a key tenet of ezCater culture

What the job involves

  • As a Customer Insights Manager you will conduct qualitative and quantitative research to understand our current and potential corporate account clients
  • You’ll define and lead research studies, as well as work hand-in-hand with the Director of Customer Insights to reinforce the voice of our customers within marketing and the overall business
  • You’ll unearth insights that make our marketing, messaging, and communications more effective and customer-centric
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify research needs and develop research plans
  • Organize, conduct, and report on primary customer research and market research
  • Assess and manage external research vendors as needed
  • Synthesize, summarize, and devise actionable strategies from customer insights
  • Present relevant insights to a variety of stakeholders and partners at all levels
  • Make substantive recommendations regarding ezCater marketing, messaging, products and service experience
  • Be a corporate customer advocate, representing their needs in business decisions
  • Deeply understand our corporate customers, market, and product
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Director or Customer Insights to:
  • Own corporate customer research roadmap, including planning & execution
  • Guide industry trend and thought leadership research
  • Moderate customer interviews
  • Analyze quantitative survey and transactional data
  • Contribute to an internal research repository
  • Collaborate with peers in UX Research and Research Operations

Our take

ezCater is an online marketplace app that provides catering options for businesses, working with food providers who enter their menus onto the app for customers to browse. ezCater sends each store its orders and handles customer service whilst the food providers fulfill the orders.

ezCater profits by charging a small commission on all orders that restaurants fulfill. The company counts JLL, RingCentral and the San Francisco 49ers among its customers. It previously fuelled expansion through acquisitions such as online catering platform GoCater in 2018 and MonkeySoft Solutions in 2019.

ezCater has enjoyed strong growth so far, in part by focusing on meal deliveries to a growing hybrid workforce as an employee benefit. It has been eyeing an IPO for some time, though these plans are yet to come to fruition. In the meantime, it has continued to develop its technology and unveiled a new supplier diversity program to uplift small businesses owned by underrepresented groups.
