  • You’re a high achieving sales leader. You have built and executed pipeline strategies to maximize revenue

You are energized by building programs to develop and grow your people and their people, you take pride in making room at the table to improve low engagement teams, and you are accustomed to working with our people business partners to ensure we’re maximizing performance and engagement simultaneously
  • You find and lead 0 to 1 opportunities. We are constantly enhancing existing products and introducing new products to our suite of services
  • We are looking for someone who is accustomed to helping find product-market fit and scaling small businesses within large organizations
  • You cherish being an underdog. We are playing from behind in Canada and are looking for candidates who can deliver outsized results to our customers and our business with limited resourcing
  • A key input to this is building trust with our top restaurants and sitting on the same side of the table as them to map out strategies for mutual growth
  • 10+ years of experience in sales / success / client services / strategy / business development / operations / analytics / consulting or related experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team to achieve personal and shared goals
  • Experience in a client-facing or account management / sales role
  • Experience in connecting team members across a larger mission and organization
  • Experience from either the restaurant industry, small or large business sales, or high-growth, early tech startup environments

Desirable

  • Bilingual (EN + FR) would be nice to have
  • Previous experience, working in or adjacent, the 3PD space in Canada would be a great asset (POS, Delivery, FoodTech, etc)
  • Prior experience working for a US-based/International company and familiarity with matrix organizations that cross borders would be helpful

What the job involves

  • We're looking for a Director, SMB Post Sales - Canada who will oversee our account teams nationwide across our merchant segment
  • You will report directly to our Senior Director in our Post Sales/Merchant Management organization, driving our merchant retention and growth strategy. You will oversee the Account Management and Development business
  • You will sit on our Canadian Leadership team alongside our market management, finance, and Enterprise sales leaders
  • As the leader of the Canadian team, you will develop our strategic advantage: winning and growing the top merchants across the country
  • You will lead a team to improve the way we work, retain and build relationships with our partners, and accelerate our people plans
  • You will work highly cross-functionally with country management and various cross functional stakeholders to influence the continued growth of DoorDash Canada

Our take

DoorDash was an early entrant into the last-mile restaurant delivery business, which is now crowded with the likes of Uber Eats, Postmates and GrubHub. They offer restaurants an end-to-end delivery platform, generating new business and access to a network of delivery drivers.

To differentiate itself in the market, DoorDash focused on areas with fewer competitors and found success in this untapped market. Other factors, such as the company's targeting of restaurants which many not typically offer a delivery service, also contribute to its profitability. The company made its stock market debut in 2020 with one of the biggest IPOs of the year.

However, in light of increasing discontent around DoorDash's commission structure from restaurants, competition remains fierce. The business recently responded by publishing a transparent fee structure, but the number of options open to restaurants means DoorDash must fight to keep its customers loyal. Despite this, by focusing on consumer retention, logistics and technology, the company is likely able to maintain its existing growth and revenue.
