Role
Who you are
- You have at least six (6) years of professional experience implementing highly scalable services (we implement our code in SQL, Python and Java/SpringBoot)
- You have contributed to systems that deliver solutions to complex business problems that handle massive amounts of data. You are drawn towards scale, distributed systems, and associated technologies
- You can clearly explain the nuances of system design and paradigms to engineers and stakeholders
- You prioritize end user experience and it shows in your APIs design, functionality, and performance
- You have a strong command over design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
- You communicate technical ideas with ease and always look to collaborate to deliver high quality products
- Your experience will help you mentor team members, define our engineering standards, and drive a system design approach to building new services
- Preferred, but not required, experience on the Client Reporting Team Stack: gRPC, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes. Readiness to learn this stack is required
What the job involves
- As an experienced Software Engineer, you will work with a team of passionate and highly collaborative engineers to build our core Platform for Client Reporting
- Our platform handles all facets of client facing reports and we need to build more features as well as make it more scalable to handle future growth
- You will own the design and implementation of new features and services, turning the complexity of processing financial transactions across various asset classes into highly scalable services
- You will tackle non trivial problems that will challenge you to flex your system design muscles, balance trade offs, and implement clean efficient code
- As a voice of experience in the team, you will help mentor teammates, evolve our technical standards and best practices, and further our culture of system designs

Clear Street is building up-to-date, cloud native infrastructure for capital markets, bringing clients faster and easier access to things like reporting, clearing, custody, and execution.
It’s been quite a rise to prominence for the New York based startup, which surpassed a billion dollar valuation in 2022 despite only launching in 2018. However, given the previous industry experience of its founders, Clear Street's success should come as no surprise. The trio built the platform as a remedy to their own pain points, missed opportunities, and lack of access to key data in the prime brokerage space.
With its Unicorn status secured and its list of clients growing, Clear Street is now gearing up for a period of rapid expansion, both geographically and across the financial services industry. Securing funding in 2023 from Prysm Capital, the company has money to play with as it continues to pursue better infrastructure for capital markets.
