Company mission

To give online brands direct ownership of their consumer data and interactions, empowering them to turn transactions with customers into long-term relationships—at scale.

Role

Who you are

  • Bold. Ambitious. Proven, yet ever-improving. Empathetic. You thrive in fast-paced, often complex environments where stakeholder engagement, management (and yes, healthy debate) are in your wheelhouse
  • Experience in recognizing patterns and avoiding pitfalls; in seeing the required change quickly, galvanizing teams to act, and delivering on the vision
  • Worked for a SaaS brand, idealing both B2B and B2C
  • Strong foundational understanding of UX design from an engineering perspective; proven ability to achieve successful design systems aligned to a multi-year roadmap
  • Customer/audience centricity drives you, and you keep accessibility and inclusivity top of mind, always
  • Led the re/design of major, high-trafficked, high-performing websites; you can tell us how and why the work was successful
  • Grew up in graphic design and continue to grow within the discipline
  • A pixel-perfect person, who’s obsessed with fonts, palettes, and consistency
  • Continuously curious and passionate about sharing your latest learnings with others
  • Eager to evolve and improve, both the work in front of you and yourself
  • *10+ years as Creative/UX Director level or higher; at a creative/ad agency or in-house creative/UX team, designing thoughtful, effective experiences across websites and digital products

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for a Creative Director, UX/Design, who will drive bold and beautiful, human-centric design across owned and digital platforms
  • Our newest team leader will wake up each day thinking about holistic, global site design; user experience; design systems; and integrated marketing campaigns
  • You’ll design and deliver a bold, clever, and helpful experience that helps make the Klaviyo brand something our cool customers want to emulate
  • A maker and manager, you’ll mentor and motivate a talented team of UX designers, while designing often, too
  • Beyond your immediate team, you’ll foster a close, productive partnership with your Creative Team colleagues, along with the Marketing, Product and Engineering Teams, among other Klaviyo; you’ll work daily with our web team to drive toward exceptional experiences as we scale our website, while championing best practices and strategic vision with Klaviyo leadership
  • Serve as a creative lead for ongoing, audience-specific integrated marketing initiatives
  • Create and scale the next generation of our foremost format: the website. You’ll drive the design of a compelling, clear journey across our web, featuring our hero characters: the people (our customers) and the product (Klaviyo, of course)
  • Manage and improve a regularly updated scalable design system that ensures consistency across all digital touchpoints
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of UX initiatives
  • Oversee regular user research initiatives to foster an ongoing feedback loop; understand user behavior, needs and challenges and deliver experiences to exceed their expectations
  • Deliver stunning, educationally impactful creative that delivers on our product positioning and clearly explains our product offering
  • Lead internal teams to develop impactful creative experiences and executions that deliver on the brand vision and promise
  • Partner closely with Product and Product Design to ensure a consistent brand experience across all Klaviyo products and platforms

Our take

Klaviyo is a marketing firm helping growth-focused eCommerce brands drive more sales with super-targeted, highly relevant email, Facebook and Instagram marketing campaigns. From personalised newsletters to automated emails when customers abandon their shopping carts, the marketing automation platform makes it easy for businesses to capture, store, analyze, and predictively use their own data to drive measurable, high-value outcomes.

Klaviyo's CEO, Bialecki, believes that the main problem with e-mail marketing today is that there is a divide between two kinds of tools: analytics tools that help you understand what people are doing on a website, such as what products they are considering, and messaging tools that send them a marketing e-mail. Operating primarily within the retail and eCommerce industry, Klaviyo aims to solve this by offering a tool that brings together analytics and messaging. This allows companies to bring all of their first-party data into a single platform to get a deep understanding of their customers and then activate that data to deliver highly-targeted, personalised communications through email and SMS. In the process, Klaviyo's customers get a deep understanding of their consumers.

Klaviyo is a fast-growing company mainly due to its business model - the firm offers a concrete ROI for Klaviyo’s clients if the software persuades customers to make purchases by treating different types of customers differently. An IPO in 2023 has led to Klaviyo's release of Klaviyo AI, which empowers businesses to unlock revenue-driving opportunities and deliver exceptional customer experiences across channels. Still in its early days of public listing, it will be interesting to see how Klaviyo fares in the years to come.
