Company mission

To improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation.

Role

Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience in product management at a high-growth technology company
  • 2+ years of ad tech experience working on one or more of the following: third-party measurement integrations (e.g. impressions, external offline and online conversions, valid impressions, views), conversion modeling and attribution, billing and invoicing, reporting systems and interfaces
  • Passion for Lyft and what we are trying to achieve in sustainable urban transportation
  • Natural ability to make things happen around you. You manage project ambiguity, complexity and interdependencies in an organized and structured way. Be able to define and analyze metrics that inform the success of products
  • Excellent judgment and thoughtfulness about the dynamics of a product ecosystem
  • Strong communication skills and intuition for communication strategy at every level — within teams, within the company, to users, to press, and other audiences
  • Experience leading post-launch optimizations, including developing testing strategies
  • Ability to conceptualize, manage and prioritize multiple projects for stakeholders
  • Detail oriented with superior organizational skills — balancing multiple projects, deadlines, and requests should be second nature to you

What the job involves

  • We are looking for a product manager who brings exceptional creative and analytical skills to drive forward the ad infrastructure that supports our best-in-class products
  • Product management at Lyft leads the integration of engineering, data science, research, and design to achieve the company’s vision for reinventing transportation
  • As a product manager for Lyft Media, you will help us innovate and execute across a rapidly growing, fast paced team and be based out of our New York City office
  • As the product manager on Ad Infrastructure (Ad Infra), specifically, you will own development and forward-looking vision for the platform that connects advertisers and riders, and the behind-the-scenes integrations, signals, and tools that ensure a frictionless campaign management, reporting, and measurement experience, including the development of in-house attribution and measurement models
  • Your features will enable a seamless integration between a rider’s experience of an ad, the event data generated by our platform and that ad, and the ability for an advertiser (or Lyft) to make further use of that data
  • Help develop the high-level strategy and objectives for our Ad Infra team
  • Build a roadmap and lead a core team of engineers, designers, data scientists, and researchers to achieve it
  • Clearly communicate priorities, problems, experiments, and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences, from partner teams to executives
  • Completely own your team's products, existing or new, from ideation through development, launch, growth, and maintenance
  • Understand Lyft's strategic and competitive position. Set your team's goals, success metrics, and roadmap to align with Lyft's mission and drive maximum impact based on data analysis, market research and usability studies
  • Align cross functional partners and teams beyond your immediate development team to drive a shared vision. For example, Global Supply Management, Accounting, Finance, Legal, and Product Marketing
  • Serve as a champion of our advertisers, riders, and drivers, and advocate for their needs at all levels of the company

Otta's take

CTO of Otta

Lyft has aimed for consistent growth, making sure to pitch itself as a more reliable and friendly ride-sharing option than its main competitor, Uber. Uber has a greater market share and operates globally, but Lyft hopes to compete by its focus on ride-sharing over Uber's more diversified business approach and as a more rider-friendly and greener alternative to Uber.

Operating only in the USA and Canada, Lyft is in a position of being less affected by global events than Uber but also more vulnerable to local conditions. As an example, while it doesn't face the regulatory hurdles around employment rights that Uber does, it is unable to balance out the cost of the unusually expensive US auto insurance across its operations.

In 2022, Lyft acquired PBSC Urban Solutions, a bike-share equipment and technology supplier, allowing Lyft to compete in new verticals and reaffirming its commitment to green transportation. It has also trialed and launched Lyft Assisted, where drivers help passengers from their door into the car to get to medical appointments. These developments chime well with Lyft's unique selling point as a friendlier and more environmentally aware ride-sharing app.
