Role

Who you are

  • Exceptional social consumer product marketing skills. 8+ years of experience in Social Consumer Tech Product Marketing
  • You have experience leading engagement and retention marketing with in-product notifications, driving product adoption campaigns in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
  • You are deeply analytical and comfortable with data-driven consumer segmentation and finding opportunities for growth experimentation
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter. You thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment, and are independently capable of seeking information, corralling resources, and delivering results without waiting for direction
  • Scrappy, creative problem solver who is able to work around constraints to maximize test and learn opportunities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality results-oriented output. Excellent project management and prioritization skills are required
  • Strong communication skills. You can move seamlessly between conversing with engineers, PMMs or Designers and leading presentations with C-level executives
  • High-energy, positive team player. You have a proven ability to build strong working relationships with business partners; this is a highly cross-functional role, so a low ego and a high instinct for collaboration are musts
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and prioritize user needs and influencing decision making through data
  • Keen aptitude to scale the team. Help build out processes for a small (but mighty) team
  • Help build our influence across the organization to tackle each of the above for your coverage area

What the job involves

  • As the new Senior Product Marketing Manager, you have the opportunity to shape not only your role but also drive adoption of key consumer features to ultimately drive engagement by influencing the product and marketing teams to simplify and improve user journeys with key experiences
  • You will be the voice of our pinner products to the market and the voice of the pinners back into the product team, with the ultimate goal of increasing value for Pinner
  • Drive Best in class GTM in-product experiences, tapping into your market knowledge to help product managers and engineers identify and prioritize the most impactful work
  • Deeply understand target user segments and priority insights (what resonates, when, in which channels) to drive desired behaviors by audience segment to both influence product and guide in-product marketing tactics
  • Develop product positioning strategies that crisply articulate the value proposition of Pinterest and differentiate us in market
  • Develop product and marketing plans, learning agenda and goals to ensure the team is maximizing learning at every opportunity and delivering actionable insights to cross functional partners to inform/influence key decisions and planning

Our take

Inspiration and ideas can pop into your head at any time, and with the growth of social media and networking, sharing these interests and gaining exposure has never been easier. Pinterest exists to display these moments visually, as a kind of digital pinboard allowing users to save and share digital images which have inspired them.

Pinterest's emphasis on visual discovery has differentiated it from competitors and created a more positive and fulfilling experience for its users. Pinterest in many ways provides a respite from the ceaseless negativity that plagues social media such as Facebook and Twitter, and this is perhaps responsible for its userbase expanding to 450 million users in 2022, driven by uptake mostly outside of North America.

Pinterest has not been immune to woes affecting the global tech sector and made about 5% of its workforce redundant at the end of 2022 and the start of 2023. Having restructured to face a challenging climate, it is well-positioned to resume its growth, which has increased consistently year on year. Its immediate goals are to continue to grow its user base and expand the uptake of its short video product, which it aims to monetize.
