Who you are

  • The ideal candidate possesses demonstrated contract and/or proposal management experience in the procurement and/or category management space, an ability to identify and drive global process improvements, and an eye for detail with a drive to follow-through
  • Successful candidates will have outstanding communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • They will have an industry background that enables them to develop win themes and technical discriminators for inclusion into proposals and a contracts background that enables them to easily interact with legal team
  • The ideal candidate will be able to support business contracts in German and English
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Fluent German and English skills (C1+ level)
  • Several years of contracts management (including managing large contracts), procurement, legal or other relevant experience with public or private sector customers
  • Excellent communicator who can quickly earn the respect of teams and customers
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills

Desirable

  • Postgraduate Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Knowledge of managed spend buying requirements and/or expertise in reviewing and negotiating terms across a broad range of private and/or public sector contracts
  • Experience in CRM tools and Salesforce

  • The Amazon Business team is dedicated to developing solutions that make procurement easy for organizations
  • Business Contracts Managers are an integral component to the team, acting as subject matter experts in pre and post-award contract management
  • As a Sr. Business Contracts Manager, you will have the exciting opportunity to help develop the go-to-market strategy and deliver on our spend adoption plans with our Commercial, Public and Strategic customers
  • They will be able to solve business and technical requirements for our customers and partners, working with internal teams to quickly build the best proposal
  • Participate in and oversee group reviews of all customer contractual and purchase documents
  • Coordinate legal activities for contract/agreement negotiation and support the competitive bid process in reviewing RFPs and enabling contract compliance
  • Complete SOP Playbook to facilitate overall management of each signed contract
  • Review each proposed RFx to identify risks and access compliance capabilities; Advise on contracting issues and approaches with respect to commercial terms and conditions as well as acquisition policy and regulations
  • Lead all contract implementation activities including notifying compliance stakeholders and facilitating reporting requirements and fee payments
  • Develop and launch Go-To-Market plan for each contract to educate Customer Advisors and leverage the contract as an engagement vehicle
  • Facilitate customer meetings; Lead communication with customer contracting leads
  • Maintain contract records/files and manage, track, and insure adherence to all contractual obligations
  • Develop and implement tools and processes in contracting operations to increase efficiency and sales productivity. Support the Customer Advisor team in educating contracting leads on Amazon Business
  • Establish internal reporting on contract performance and own monitoring and reporting on progress, including oral and written presentations to EU senior leadership

Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
