Who you are

  • Have B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Have over 5 years of experience in a Software Engineering role
  • Have defined, managed, and scaled AWS solutions using infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Have a solid background in developing application services, APIs, and maintaining testing, monitoring, isolation, and SLAs processes
  • Have experience with both relational (Postgres) and NoSQL databases (Dynamo, Redis)
  • Have designed, operated, and maintained large-scale distributed systems in production
  • Have leveraged customer feedback and architectural insights for significant engineering contributions
  • Have proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, TypeScript
  • Have knowledge of columnar OLAP databases
  • Have a fundamental understanding of front-end technologies and frameworks

What the job involves

  • ​​We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our backend focused team responsible for the API's, services and data stores that power the core analytics product at Amplitude
  • The ideal candidate should be excited about mentoring engineers, care about performance, leading technical design discussions, being hands-on with the code, and caring about getting the details right
  • In this role, you will collaborate with a variety of teams all across the company
  • Your comprehensive understanding of the app will contribute to our diverse product strategy, encompassing everything from core analytics to experimental integration and session replay
  • Your work at Amplitude will be marked by close collaborations with our product and design teams, GTM, and direct engagement with our customers to shape the future of our products and features
  • Transform product ideas from conception to implementation
  • Enhance our analysis experience using technologies like TypeScript, Python, Rest/GraphQL, and databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Redis
  • Elevate our application architecture
  • Foster collaboration with product and design teams, and other engineering groups
  • Lead and mentor in engineering discussions, advocating best practices
  • Actively participate in design and code reviews
  • Innovate in building a top-tier analytics backend through thoughtful abstractions
  • Tackle production issues across various services and levels of our infrastructure
