What the job involves

  • Our Sales team manages the full sales cycle, helping prospects and existing customers leverage Mixpanel to analyze, measure, and improve their customer experience
  • The team consists of two roles - Account Executives who bring in new business, and Account Managers responsible for nurturing existing customers
  • Mixpanel is seeking an experienced Account Executive to help expand our business in existing accounts
  • These are accounts where Mixpanel has a small footprint but the nature of the account suggests that there is far more opportunity for Mixpanel to deliver value
  • This is likely to be expansions into different business units under an umbrella group
  • Due to the nature of these expansions, you will be predominantly focussed on Enterprise accounts with employee size of 1000+
  • You will be given a list of approximately 10 accounts which we believe have large expansion potential
  • You will work with the current Account Managers who are managing the accounts day to day to help build an expansion strategy
  • You will work with the wider business within Mixpanel & Mixpanel’s partners to execute against this strategy
  • Identify expansion sponsors within existing accounts to cross-sell Mixpanel to additional subsidiaries
  • Prospect into new business units of your targeted customer accounts — build and maintain pipeline while owning the sales cycle from start to finish
  • Collaborate with your peers in other regions on global expansions
  • Prospect into new business units of your targeted customer accounts + greenfield accounts — build and maintain pipeline while owning the sales cycle from start to finish
  • Drive awareness of Mixpanel as a solution within the marketplace and handle inbound requests from interested prospects
  • Maintains accurate Salesforce records related to New Business opportunities, and delivers accurate weekly forecasts related to revenue targets
  • Approach all deals with a customer focused mentality. Develop relationships and uncover the needs of multiple key stakeholders to find value moments
  • Sell with a long-term consultative approach
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key partners such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, Product, Marketing, and Legal
  • Intimately understand Mixpanel's competition as well as technology partners to consult customers on our place in the broader analytics market

Salary benchmarks

Our take

Understanding customer behaviour is a vital part of any business. Mixpanel allows companies to answer detailed questions about their customer's behaviour over web and mobile applications. Google has struggled to modernize its somewhat clunky analytics platform in recent years, allowing Mixpanel to become an industry leader in the space.

Technology VC firm Sequoia Capital has backed the company, demonstrating its significant growth potential. Mixpanel CEO Max Levchin was also a previous co-founder of Paypal, which may have helped the company facilitate a tie-up with Paypal-owned Venmo early on. Mixpanel now serves thousands of companies from different industries around the world, including Expedia, Uber, Ancestry, DocuSign, and Lemonade.

The company serves 7,700+ customers across its seven global offices. In line with its global expansion efforts, the company has aimed to enhance localized data, helping its clients tailor their offerings to customers in the right way and at precisely the right time. Mixpanel has also focused on expanding its integrations, being available on more platforms such as Google Cloud Marketplace.
