  • Experience in IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries

  • AWS is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join our thriving technical community and growing business in the UK Public Sector
  • You will join a friendly and supportive team, working together to bring the latest in disruptive cloud computing technologies, comprising latest developments in artificial intelligence
  • Our teams help customers build a deeper understanding of hyper-scale cloud technology and application architectures, and they have the consultative and leadership skills required to drive and deliver successful outcomes
  • As AWS Solutions Architect, you will have ownership of the technical relationship with customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, operational efficiency and best-practice architectures
  • Internally, you will be an advocate acting on behalf of the customer to help drive continual improvements to AWS services, sharing their needs and wants to inform the roadmap of AWS features and services
  • You will also help shape the future of the Solutions Architecture organisation by helping to hire, coach and mentor others, and find opportunities to improve the way we work
  • In this role, your creativity will link technology to tangible solutions, with the opportunity to define and invent cloud-native reference architectures with the worldwide AWS Solutions Architect community
  • You will own or participate in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts) and evangelise and educate about AWS technology (e.g. through workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos or conferences)
  • Every day as a Solutions Architect is different
  • One day, you might be building a Proof-of-Concept to demonstrate the art of the possibilities to a customer; the next, you might could be writing content to help out customers accelerate their projects or coaching others on a technology where you excel
  • It's a varied role that allows you to leverage your strengths and continuously learn new things

Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
