Role
Who you are
- 5+ years in building REST APIs for AI/ML based services in a high scale environment
- Experienced in building robust backend services on AWS infrastructure to serve AI/ML services
- Define comprehensive API specifications and documentation
- Deliver customer-facing services, including account management, identity, billing and metering, and self-service support tools, integrating with existing internal systems where necessary
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Highly Proficient in Python, TypeScript
- Able to write comprehensive technical documentation
- Proven ability to work in both rapid prototyping mode and to ship/maintain large-scale products
- Evidence of interest in music / audio is valued
What the job involves
- We are looking for an excellent Senior Backend Engineer (AI) to rapidly deliver REST APIs and AI/ML back-end services that support Generative AI models/workflows for image, video, language, audio, and 3D modalities
- Design and implement public REST APIs, including data storage, and ML backend services and deliver highly available and scalable services that efficiently use GPU cluster hosting the services
- Write clean and extensible Python and Typescript code
- Work closely with product management, design, research and engineering teams to deliver high-quality and user-friendly products
- Identify performance bottlenecks in APIs and deliver optimized solutions to address them
- Participate in incident management and root cause analysis to improve system reliability
- Implement and improve service telemetry and event tracking across our products
- Implement best practices to ensure that the applications can be efficiently tested and debugged, to ensure they work as expected across multiple devices and browsers
- Implement security measures to protect user data and prevent unauthorized access or data breaches

Through collective intelligence and augmented technology, Stability AI is helping research communities develop cutting-edge AI models for image, language, audio, video, 3D content, biotech and other scientific research.
Working in partnership with Amazon Web Services, Stability AI's latest release, Stable Diffusion is a text-to-image model that utilizes the Ezra-1 UltraCluster (the world's fifth-largest supercomputer). The model quickly proved to be a success, with four of the top ten applications on Apple's App Store being powered by Stable Diffusion after just one month.
Alongside Stable Diffusion, Stability AI offers premium imagining application, DreamStudio, as well as externally built products Lensa, Wonder and NightCafe, which have too amassed great success, with over 40M users and counting. The company is dedicated to investing in more supercomputing power in order to further accelerate its product offerings and is looking to expand its workforce, expecting to grow to over 300 employees by the end of the year.
