Role

Who you are

  • At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist
  • At least some knowledge of Generative AI and LLMs (e.g., foundations like Transformed-based architectures, embeddings, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of the best engineering practices
  • Experience with building data pipelines using tools like Spark and Airflow
  • Experience with serving machine learning models at scale
  • Strong engineering background: excellent knowledge of Python, exposure to other programming languages (Kotlin, Java, etc)
  • Experience in using machine learning frameworks in production settings: Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow (or similar)
  • Experience using cloud-based architectures for deploying machine learning solutions
  • Proficient in English with excellent written and oral communication skills

Desirable

  • Exposure to other programming languages in the past such as Kotlin, Java, Scala, etc
  • Experience bringing models into production and serving models at scale
  • Experience using AWS for deploying machine learning solutions
  • Understanding of A/B testing and experimentation
  • Exposure to MLOps tools

What the job involves

  • We invite you to join us on a critical and exciting mission! Your job will be to build Generative AI video services for all OLX customer units (Motors, Real Estate, Goods, Jobs, and Services)
  • This is a unique opportunity! You will be part of a strategic movement inside the company, building a team from scratch! A team that will break through walls and build cross-functional connections with everyone around

  • As a Data Scientist in the team, you will work with an amazing squad composed of different profiles such as Data Scientists, Engineers, Product Managers, and Analysts
  • The team will be focusing on building and deploying disruptive Generative AI video services at scale across all OLX platforms. The solution should be capable of generating beautifully designed videos based on user-provided content in a cost-efficient manner
  • You will be responsible for ensuring that ideas either are deployed to all users or die in production not surviving the validation. Iterate quickly, fail fast, learn, and improve. The power is yours!
  • Work in the Data Science team, focusing on LLMs and GenAI, from a platform and marketplace perspective
  • You will build models, tinker around them to make them work, test them, and eventually deploy them to production. You will see your stuff in action and you will be able to measure the true impact of your models (less expected, yet a requirement)
  • You will maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. This means asking a lot of questions to business people, and translating their requirements into achievable projects. It also means collaborating with other teams, like infrastructure and data engineering to get things done in an elegant and timely manner
  • Partner with Engineering and Product to deliver solutions (customer-facing and platforms) to our customers (internal and end customers)
  • Work with Product Analytics to track the KPIs of different ML use cases and measure the impact on our customers
  • Partner with the Experimentation team to integrate the KPIs and their proxies into the Experimentation (A/B testing) platform
  • You will work in multi-functional teams, in a diverse, multinational environment, filled with people from Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan

Over 300 million people use an OLX group website every month. The company has managed to reach this level primarily through the acquisition and integration of emerging marketplaces that typically delight customers with their easy-use and quality range.

The company is now deepening its M&A strategy by integrating further marketplaces and inventories on behalf of its largest platforms, like OLX Autos. The business has already done $1B of revenue since operation.

While some brands have been flying high, others like the Russian-based Avito have become liabilities. Navigating these fluctuations in the fortunes of its ever growing portfolio of brands will continue to pose the biggest challenge for the group.
