Role

Who you are

  • If you’re looking for a broad, impactful challenge, please apply!
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in fields like Product Management, Technical Account Management or Integration Engineering at a top tier tech company
  • You are extremely comfortable in front of large or senior audiences, internal or external
  • You can craft clear written communications artifacts
  • You adapt your communication to your audience: internal/external, seniority, technical expertise, payment savviness, etc
  • You obsess over customer success and quality of experience. You have deep user empathy skills that you can convey back to our teams
  • You can understand the product deeply. You meet with engineers directly and can talk about technical design
  • You can advise customers about technical integrations. You’re comfortable writing your own queries or making a small code change as necessary
  • You like to solve problems in novel ways, you can suggest alternatives like a manual workaround to a feature request, you always want to understand user needs and how we can solve problems in different ways than our competitors do
  • You are strong operationally, capable of designing and driving a cross-functional team and process
  • You dig deep into the data, think from first principles, and deliver the right results
  • You enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects

What the job involves

  • The Enterprise product team is looking to hire seasoned Product Managers to work closely with our largest users
  • We are hiring PMs to partner closely with users, Stripe engineering teams, and the GTM organization to help the largest companies in the world adopt and love Stripe products
  • This is a new type of role at Stripe with a high degree of ambiguity and complexity
  • As an Enterprise product manager, you will be primarily focused on cross-functional technical activities, working closely with account teams and customers through various interactions
  • You will work across the full portfolio of Stripe products and solutions, identifying gaps, closing them, and bringing compelling products to market through direct and indirect channels
  • You will work closely with product and engineering teams and you will become a subject matter expert to improve enterprises’ experiences throughout their entire lifecycle, from engaging in pre-sales conversations, serving as a product partner in escalations, and determining how to creatively solve their top requests
  • You will define and execute a significant portion of the Enterprise product team’s charter and drive business results across the company
  • This could include determining or enhancing product-market-fit in a certain vertical or segment, or defining where we think the puck is going for enterprises 5 years out
  • You will gather customer needs, learn about industry trends and competitors’ offerings and influence the roadmap of Stripe’s products and solutions
  • You will develop strategies and drive execution of top company priorities in a cross-functional, highly supportive environment
  • You improve the experience of large users with Stripe for Cards processing at all points of their lifecycle
  • You meet with customers regularly to educate them about our cards portfolio of products, you steer them towards outcomes that are more favorable for them and for Stripe. You are the voice of the Enterprise roadmap across the user base
  • You engage with users both reactively (customer requests about joining a beta feature, account team needs help about a priority user asks, etc.) and proactively (account check-ins, celebrate wins, get ahead of renewals, etc)
  • Your interactions with customers help you generate new product ideas for the central PM teams, and ultimately influence the roadmap, generating higher share of wallet or new monetized product launches
  • You help unblock new deals or avoid existing user churn by selling what’s on the truck
  • You help champion the adoption of our product portfolio that directly improves ONR (Vault SKUs, Disputes SKUs, etc.) or indirectly (Enterprise features that lead to higher SoW, etc)
  • You capture user feedback at scale and cascade that out to cross-functional teams. You improve the external perception of Stripe products by participating in customer briefings, partner enablement or external content creation for strategic user engagements
  • You creatively solve priority users asks to avoid spending engineering resources on single customer problems and help sell what’s on the truck
  • You engage with customers on early exploration and product ideas and can help assess complexity without heavy engineering scoping
  • You can help extend product manager activities with customers and GTM, like identifying beta customers and enrolling them in product trials
  • You form a POV on Enterprise solutions and packages that resonate with our largest users
  • Organizational improvement
  • You identify process improvements to improve GTM <> product team interactions
  • You pilot those within our teams and you help roll those out more broadly at Stripe
  • Institutional knowledge
  • You obsess with customer needs, competitive offerings or new industry trends. You attend industry conferences, analyst briefings or network events. You raise the bar for payment and user knowledge of your teams
  • You bring this knowledge back to your product and engineering teams in the forms of summarized briefs, competitive overview or feedback on strategy
  • This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office)

Our take

Stripe, nowadays a FinTech giant, spent the first few years since its founding building up its payments business, which primarily consisted of providing an API to eCommerce businesses so that they could easily integrate a payments option in their apps or websites, where before there was none.

More recently, Stripe has started to accelerate its growth with a significantly larger range of financial services including cash advances and credit cards. They also plan to build incorporation services, fraud protection, and more, diversifying its revenue away from payments and differentiating itself from its competitors.

To further expand its position, the company is looking to triple its presence in Ireland, and extend its services to countries with vast customer potential, including Brazil and India. Its latest venture, coming atop significant new funds, is to partner with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT - a win-win collaboration that will monetize OpenAI’s flagship products and at the same time enhance Stripe with GPT-4, as it moves forwards with intentions to "build the payments foundation for tomorrow's AI economy."

Company values

  • Built for builders - The best reason to work at Stripe is that you will have colleagues who support and challenge you to do the best work of your career. We combine a big-picture mindset with obsessive attention to the details, down to the last pixel, API parameter, and word.
  • An environment of growth - We care about results more than CVs. We value managers who remain experts while developing talent and designing successful orgs. You can also have a big impact and advance far without managing anyone. We want you to take what you’ve been hired to do, and show us how it’s done – you might create something we never would have imagined. We have had account managers start a publishing arm, interns who have run business units, and hackathon participants who have built company-defining products.
  • Fast-paced, detail oriented - We balance innovation with scrupulous attention to every bit and byte involved in the movement of money – because we can’t do our job well unless we do both. When we started, we emailed every API error to everyone at the company. Now, we have more than 250 million API requests a day – and we still care about each one.
  • Voraciously curious - We wish there was a book that described what we need to do next (we’d even publish it), but since there isn’t, we all have to write it together. You will need to find answers to questions you’ve never been asked before. Sometimes, you will be the first person ever to contemplate a particular problem. We want people who devour books for fun and approach new challenges with eager curiosity.
